Can't be. Guns are banned in DC. Must have been fireworks orsomething.

Reports of one Capitol Hill police officer wounded, and the shooter in custody.

It appears it is a mom armed with a car with a baby in the backseat.

Sounds like all gun shots are from Capital Police.

Mom is dead. Baby is ok.

Attempted to ram several different baracades with her car.

Maybe suicide by Police Officer.

Sad.

U.S. Capitol Police on the plaza around the Capitol said they were working without pay as the result of the shutdown.
Unpaid... out of the goodness of their own hearts? .... deferred pay? Does this mean they were actually off-duty cops? Are they allowed to carry in D.C. off-duty? It just seems odd.
I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

They're not banned for those who kiss the ring.

Turns out now she was unarmed and all the shots fired were from the police.

The woman apparently rammed one of the barricades in front of the White House, then kept driving. The police chased her and rammed her car into a light pole. They then opened fire on her as she exited the vehicle, killing her. She had a small child in the car who was unhurt.

Those who are deemed "excepted" (the official term for "essential" - it was changed in 1996 because some people's feeling were hurt by being called "non-essential") are required to report for work, unpaid.

They will eventually get their pay as back pay when a budget is eventually passed.

Here's the crazy part: the last time a government shutdown happened, those who were deemed "non-essential" also got back pay for their furlough time, even though they didn't work. So it seems you're better off being "non-excepted", as this whole thing might just turn out to be a paid vacation.

She probably wanted to tell some politician the baby was his. In seriousness one officer got hurt chasing her. I wonder what her agenda was. :smash:
