Err.... please watch the video again. The bikers were just enjoying morning ride while eating skittles & drinking iced tea when the Range Rover REAR ENDS a biker, then pulls a hit and run by RUNNING OVER ANOTHER biker to get away. The Range Rover guy is just lucky he only got a beat down and didn't get killed. Many wealthy people have an attitude that they'er the elite and y'all are just serfs so they can do anything they want to you and get away with it. If the bikers tried to sue the guy in the Range Rover, his high priced attorneys would probably coach him into all the correct lies and the Range Rover guy would likely get an O.J. (get out of jail free card). In this case, street justice is probably the only justice those bikers were gonna get. And to those of you who say the Rang Rover guy could've used a firearm to defend himself, are you forgetting that if everyone is armed, then there would be more armed bikers than armed people in the SUV? BTW, I don't condone street justice, but I'm just saying I understand (but don't sympathize) those bikers.

Also, TAM said that guns are banned New York. This is untrue. New York is a "may issue state". My uncle who lived in New York city paid the mayor (not the current one) $80,000 to help with his election campaign and gave a "gift" of $50,000 to the police chief (not the current one). After that, his application for a gun license got magically approved. It was rejected previously. He was allowed to carry one snub nosed revolver and loved brandishing it everywhere he went. You see, even in the countries with the most restrictive gun laws, the elites will always have priviledges that the plebes don't have. Such is the definition of a lack of liberty. LIberty is the equal application of all laws to all citizens. Japan has the most restrictive gun laws, yet, there are roughly 50 (give or take a couple) CHL holders in Japan. In China, I once saw a guy run a red light and speed while weaving through traffic. Then, the guy walks out of car while open carrying a pistol. The cops present smile and bow to him. He was the son of a high ranking Communist party official. In Hong Kong, if the police chief of the entire administrative region has to sign off on your CHL. Only Lee Ka Shing, one of the wealthiest men in the world and his sons, plus a few other rich guys and friends of the chief have a CHL in Hong Kong.

Even if you don't like guns, the equal application of gun laws is a litmus test for liberty. There are no countries where guns are truly banned. Guns are only banned for the plebians.

P.S. Texas, Alaska, and a few other Republican states are the closest to liberty you'll get on this planet. Our CHL costs $265 (state fees, range fee, gun rental, ammo, class). Poor people cannot afford this. That's why most CHL holders are in north Dallas and Plano while very few are in South Dallas. Poor people illegally carry and end up in jail when they have to use their gun to protect themselves. This is not liberty but $265 is not an insurmountable obstacle, even for someone on minimum wage. It is very difficult but not impossible to manage. $130,000 for a New York city CHL is insurmountable for most people. Keep in mind this was many years ago, so the fee for a CHL in New York is probably double that or more today.
McKnife wrote:I also applaud the Range Rover's actions up until it got stuck in traffic. As HotLead said above, the moment he stopped, he was at a major disadvantage.

I would have been on the phone with the cops explaining I will defend myself as needed *hint hint... get here quick* Nothing gets marked cars moving faster than a dispatcher reporting gunshots heard over the phone.

Mobs have zero reasoning, which is exactly why I keep a loaded AR with several magazines ready, as well as a 'go-bag.'

Most biker mobs across the nation (not all) clearly try to intimidate other drivers on the road. I pray that the driver recovers quickly, and that he invests in proper defense :fire for his family soon. I also hope that the bikers involved get criminal charges.

My sarcasm meter may need calibrating, but I sincerely hope DrJoker was simply administering a dose of sarcastic jest in the above post. If not, oh dear Lord, help us all.

From what I heard on the news, the cops were already on the alert for this motorcycle crowd, to prevent them from entering around Times Square. IOW, they were already known to be looking for trouble. What a concept!

This is the motorcycle equivalent of a bunch of kids all showing up at a mall or convenience store and running wild. At some point just the sheer numbers become a problem.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Ignore the text in the link and just watch the video. Pay close attention to the beginning. You'll see what I mean.....

http://youtu.be/wNOyDMzn2bY

There's a reason why the bikers took video and posted it on the internet.

Wait a minute... why did the biker stop in front of the SUV. Hmmm... maybe you guys are right. Maybe the bikers instigated it? Or maybe the biker had engine problems and stopped suddenly causing the SUV to hit the biker? Hmmm... dunno, not enough info to go on.....

What do you think prompted the motorcyclist to pull over and stop in front of the SUV after he appeared to be mouthing at the suv driver as he went by?

C-dub wrote: True, but it's just like so many other scenarios. How many times do people need to just allow bad/criminal behavior to continue unchecked? Too many people are afraid of a confrontation and won't do or say anything, which only emboldens them and makes them think that behavior is acceptable. The RR wasn't trying to hurt anyone by going around them. These bikers own this entire event and should take responsibility for the entire outcome.
Oh yes they are 100% to blame.

I heard it was that one bike took out the side mirror and the RR started honking and maybe tryed to follow/ get the plate of the rider. The brake check was to allow the rider to "get away" if you will. A very common tactic among these groups. They even do it to police units.

I dunno, but I've been on a bike before driving the speed limit and I don't ride anymore because it is too dangerous. I've had people shout racial slurs at me, throw beer bottles at me, and tried to run me off the road before. I don't know what's with drivers who see a guy on a bike and think that they can bully the guy on the bike. In all instances, it was my slow driving that angered the other driver, but I was driving at the legal speed limit. Just because everyone else is speeding doesn't mean I have to do it too.

What does all of that and your previous comment have to do with this particular situation?

Funny how the video ends when the bikers break his window. I would have hit reverse and ran all those punks over, I was in fear for my life, Ill take my chances with a jury.

The solid citizen in the 4 wheel battering ram ran into and then over a biker. The person needs driving skill not more ammo. The response by the bikers may be outside common sense, but having to dodge cars who don't even see you always put me in a bad mood when I rode!

If you stop the action you can see at one point that the driver's side mirror is missing the glass. Of course it's hard to know at this point but quite possibly EEllis has it pegged as to what started this.
