My two cents...
I don't buy the social security administration story either unless there's a lot more detail that hasn't been disclosed yet.
Regardless of alleged affiliation, no legitimate person would remain in personal space after being warned off twice, particularly in Texas.
I agree that the Mrs. handled it well except for possibly not calling 911 immediately to report the situation if that was not done.
I also agree if that step was not taken at the time, it should be done now - better late than never.

I arrived home and we sat down and discussed what happened.
Her sister lives in Dickinson. She is the sweetest, most loving woman you could ever meet. She is a true jewel. Ourside of this she is as dumb as a bag of hammers. To put it in perspective, she voted for barry. I digress.
She is immobile so her whole world is TV, newspapers, and mail. She received a mailout for social security supplemental insurance and mailed in the card.
The two guys that showed up thought my wife was her sister. They parked across the street so Mrs. Anygun did not notice them and did not hear them exit their vehicle. They approached her from behind as she was digging in the car. They startled her when they addressed her and were in her space. She told them to back off twice and when they did not she drew her weapon and held it at her side and ordered them to back up now. They did.
The two men were ex-military selling some kind of SS supplemental insurance. Mrs. Anygun chastized her sister after reading the two salesmen the riot act. Obviously the men were not adequately schooled in how to approach people and her sister, well....
She did not call 911 and we did discuss this thoroughly. I do not think there will be any issues since there was definitely a disparity - two young ex-military types vs my lovely sweet 60 yo bride. I know several Dickinson LEO and they are a good bunch. If anything comes up I will handle it.
One thing she did say last night - When she first got her CHL she had the mindset that "I will never need this". Now she is so thankful she has her CHL, is armed, and is as familiar with her ability as she is. She now understands why I keep harping on her to do more and be more prepared. She also now understands why I do what I do when my spidey sense starts to tingle. She used to think I was a freak. Now she wants more of that sense so that next time she is not so easily caught off guard.
If this episode helps anyone here, especially women, it is good.

The Social Security Administration doesn't sell supplemental insurance. If she sent in a postcard and they responded, they were independent insurance sales persons selling a medicare supplement. Real government employees don't have time to drop by in pairs, and they have real identification, with photos, not business cards.

You left off badges. IF they drop buy in pairs, they have badges.

I know that. She initially told me they were from SS Admin when I spoke to her on the phone.

The local TCEQ environmental auditors I have met have business cards without photo ID, but they don't generally drop by without 10 days notice.
Social Security has a policy of not 'just showing up' - they will send a letter or call. And they definitely don't do neighborhood canvases to 'inform' folks of their products. I would have held them at gunpoint until cops arrived.

It already reads with the update that they were not social security, but some clowns selling some insurance. I cannot stand door to door sales people! They get aggressive with people all the time and often don't take no for an answer. I guess this time they did

I would say she definitely gave them a message. Good job Mrs. Anygun.

It does not sound right to me at all. Since when does the SSA send people out to canvass?! The only federal types at my door have been census counters, but everyone knew they were coming.
this is what has concerned me all evening...their story just sounds weird...it could be correct, but it's still odd.
I'm so glad Mrs Anygun is ok!
