Yeah... I got a little prolific with the recall... I post a little between patients (I am a physician)...

I went on vacation on the next day... And no patient had to wait: as soon as they were ready - I saw them...

EMAIL from Springfield / Newest info

#109

Post by ATDM »

Springfield has extended the turnaround time from 30 days to 10-12 weeks, even though their FAQ page still says "30 days." It appears that they have NOT come up with a reliable fix as of yet and are in the stages of testing their solution. Here is a copy of an email many of their customers received today:
Dear Springfield Customer,

We greatly appreciate the tremendous response to the 3.3 XD-S™ Recall Upgrade. We have received a very large number of pistols in a very short time, and upgrades will be completed on a “first come / first served” basis.

The upgrade repair is in the final stage of testing, and should be determined soon. The XD-S™ pistols already received at Springfield will be upgraded and returned as soon as possible, beginning within the next few weeks. Given the volume of XD-S™ pistols now on hand, we expect it will take eight to ten weeks to upgrade and return the current inventory to their owners. Pistols currently being returned to Springfield for the upgrade, please allow approximately ten to twelve weeks turnaround time.

We are doing our best to increase the speed of the upgrade while maintaining a high level of safety and quality. As the upgrade process progresses, we are hopeful that the return time will become shorter.

We know it is inconvenient for you to be without your pistol, and we sincerely apologize. We assure you that we are working as fast as we can, and we know you will be very pleased with your upgraded 3.3 XD-S™. Thank you for your patience and loyalty. And remember; do not use your 3.3 XD-S™ until the upgrade has been performed.

Once your pistol has been upgraded and is shipping back to you, an e-mail confirmation and tracking information will be sent to you at the e-mail address you provided. If you still have further questions please call 800-680-6866 or send your request again to recall@springfield-armory.com we appreciate your patience and support!

Sincerely,
Team Springfield

no real problem to me, just a minor bump in life. I sold a gun that rarely got carried and bought the XDs that I barely had a chance to shoot before shipping it out. We'll see what happens in another 5-6 weeks. Nothing to get all worked up over ..... yet

I have a couple more carry guns, but my issue is that I had gotten it only 2 weeks before the recall, so I haven't had a chance to get to shoot it much. It's a great gun, but it was like someone took away a bowl of ice cream after only one bite. Now, SA has had it longer than I have.

I know people, who got theirs only one day before the recall and hadn't shot it at all before sending it off. The lack of reliable info from SA is also astounding.

But life goes on... Gives me an excuse to get another gun, though... That's my silver lining.

Sure would be great if SA showed their appreciation in some tangible manner such as a free magazine included with the repaired pistol like Ruger did during the LCP recall.

At this point, I'd just settle for getting a safe and reliable gun back. I haven't lost faith in SA quality, but I have lost faith in SA customer service. They are guarding any sort of information like a state secret. Customer service is either uninformed or was told not to divulge anything, except generalities.

I sent my 2 in last week (was told 30 days turnaround at the time). After reading the post about 10-12 weeks wait this morning, I called and asked to have my pistols returned until the dust settled. They kicked me up one level in their system and then told me they would not do that as they did not want the liability. So I asked for a refund of my money for the purchase of the pistols. That had to go up another level and I have not received a response yet (not holding my breath). If I had known last week what I know today, I would not have sent my pistols in to SA for many months if ever. Last of the XD product I will buy.

I will be sending mine in, but like you, I am waiting for the dust to settle. I have other guns to carry, so this doesn't leave me in the lurch. I only have to call Springfield and tell them to cancel the RMA# they issued, and that I will deal with it whenever they are ready to deal with it.

Think I'll do the same. How long is the RMA # good for? Printed my shipping labels on 8/28 but have been reluctant to send it in. Do we need to cancel the RMA or just wait?

It's good for 30 days.
So after 30 days you request a new one?

I am not a 100% sure on that, but I think, you need to cancel it. Otherwise, you may be charged for the new number, if you send it after expiration.

well, I won't be happy with anything less than the return of a 100% pistol, lifetime guarantee, free night sights, free trigger job, 3 free magazines, a Springfield cap and a new set of tires for my truck ;-)

I can't believe all the whining.
