The music set the mood for an extraordinary experience even before the show started.
In 1935 Alfred Newman composed what would become the most heard orchestral composition, Ever!

One of the great composers of Movie Music was Elmer Bernstein. From the "Ten Commandments" to "Ghostbusters" his film scores were nominated for Academy Awards 14 times, with a win for "Thoroughly Modern Millie", 2 Grammys and 2 Golden Globes.

What composition illustrates the duality of American nature more so than the theme for "The Magnificent Seven"?

Watching the Composer conduct an iconic piece of music is always a treat. The first trumpet is tremendous.
That his composition gained greater fame as the "Marlboro Cigarette Theme" doesn't lessen the impact it had on me as rode across the desert southwest with Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen and friends while comfortably seated in an air conditioned theatre in Phoenix.
That is a great movie theme song. Here's one from the movie Local Hero. It's not as majestic as The Magnificent Seven, but I like it. Mark Knopfler, from Dire Straits scored the soundtrack. BTW Local Hero is a great movie. There are a lot of funny moments.
Local Hero is a particular favorite of mine. I've always enjoyed fish out of water stories.

Loituma's rendition of Eva's Polka. There was a short lived web meme that paired Japanese anime with the music.
Can you tell where the lyrics end and the vocalization begins?

You'll see Suomi and English lyrics at the bottom of the screen.

Mrs. Wyatt: Dry, normal or greasy?
Mac MacIntyre: Normal. Extra normal.

MacIntyre: My parents were Hungarian immigrants. They took the name MacIntyre 'cause they thought it sounded more American!

Urquhart: [acting as bartender] I want you to try this Scotch. It's 42 years old.
MacIntyre: Old enough to be out on its own.

Vern Gosdin has to be one of the best singers I have heard. It's a shame that he didn't really get the recognition he deserved while living. Chiseled in stone is one song that speaks to me.

Wow! Just spent an hour and a half looking thru this thread that I had never seen before. What a diverse selection!

"Speaks" to me could be remembering a point in time, a person, an event, or many other things. There are so many I had to think about it for a while but this one "speaks" to me because of the incredible talent. Ran across him because he toured with Jimmy Buffett for a year or so.

Saw the instructions to remove the www. to embed the video but the preview doesn't seem to work. Hopefully it will work when I click submit.

The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. How could a Folk/Comedy duo with respectable haircuts, write/direct/perform a show that would become the most controversial in CBS history? With writers like Steve Martin, Jim Stafford, Albert Brooks, Don Novello, Rob Reiner and Bob Einstein. Though the controversy would eventually lead to the cancellation of the show, in spite of ratings, while it aired it introduced the country to little know performers, as well as those whose political views gave them little access to the American main stream. Jennifer Warnes, The Doors, George Harrison, Joan Baez, Buffalo Springfield, Cass Elliot, Harry Belafonte, Cream, Donovan, The Doors, Janis Ian, Yank Barry, Jefferson Airplane, Peter, Paul and Mary, Spanky and Our Gang, Steppenwolf, The Who, Simon and Garfunkel, Ray Charles and even Pete Seeger(persona non grata for 17 years).
One of the writers was also a musician, he penned the shows theme music, and premiered his now "Classical" composition on the program:

The video I originally posted is gone.

I come from a family with musical talent out the wazoo. Mom, Dad, Sibs, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Wife, Children. Horns, Strings, Woodwinds, Percussion, Voice. No family gathering was complete without an end of evening musical performance.
Sadly, my talents lay elsewhere, and I struggled to find my place(much like the Clarinetist/Governor character in "Mr. Holland's Opus") for 33 years.
When my oldest son asked why I didn't join in, I was spurred to renew my efforts. With the help of a local music store, I secretly practiced for months on the one song that I now am able to perform.

No one was more surprised than me, that I was able to perform with some aplomb and everyone who could, joined in.
I had dedicated my performance to my children who, upon the end of the song, promptly named me Dadtodabone.
And so I've been ever since.
