Mayors Against Illegal Guns - Annise Parker

#1

Post by MikeStone »

So I checked the MAIG member site and found Annise Parker:

http://mayorsagainstillegalguns.org/htm ... bers.shtml

I sent her a note to the effect that illegal guns are bad, but that MAIG is nothing but a Bloomberg political front for gun control. I told her I would not support her if she stayed in MAIG.

Response:

CITY OF HOUSTON Annise D. Parker
Mayor
P.O. Box 1562
Houston, Texas 77251-1562
Telephone – Dial 311

Thank you for writing to me. As a member of both the U.S. Conference of Mayors and
Mayors Against Illegal Guns, I support stronger gun laws in America. Although I do not agree
with all of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition concerns, I do agree with the group’s
basic mission and that tougher gun regulation is necessary.

As Mayors, we are duty-bound to do everything in our power to protect our residents,
especially our children, from harm. I support eliminating loopholes that allow private sales
without background checks. I support—to the maximum extent of the law—punishing
criminals who possess, use, and traffic in illegal guns. I support work to develop and use
technologies that aid in the detection and tracing of illegal guns. And I support holding those
accountable who break the law by knowingly selling guns to straw purchasers.

I do not, however, support restricting the right to continue to hold a legally obtained conceal to
carry license, which I personally have.

Sincerely,

Annise D. Parker
Mayor

As a former Oklahoman, I am proud to see absolutely NO Oklahoma mayors on this roster!

Other usual suspects in Texas are Lee Leftwingwell from the People's Republik of Austin, and the West Lake Hills mayor. West Lake Hills has been overrun with limousine libs.

I'm proud to say that my former home state, Nebraska, has no MAIG members either.
Looks like So. Dakota and Wyoming are the only others as well. The only Mayor from Idaho that is a member is from Moscow! (Moscow, ID)

Former Houston Mayor Bill White was a member of the gaggle of goons right up to the point he decided to run for Texas Governor. He then dropped from the goon list and said, "Who me? Naw, not me! That was someone who looked like me. . . ."

You should ask her how tight gun control is working for her buddy Rahm in Chicago. You would probably get the stock response blaming Texas and straw purchases made from gun stores in the 'burbs.

I read the web page and couldn't find exactly which guns where classified as an "illegal gun". Maybe the group should be "Mayors Against Criminals" and they should focus on Criminals. We obviously have enough Laws on the books to make a Criminal a Criminal so we shouldn't need anymore new Laws unless the intent is to make all Law Abiding Americans a Criminal.

These Mayors cannot be so ignorant to believe that a Criminal is going to start following new Laws. The goal of these "Rulers" are to further restrict access to firearms by Law Abiding Citizens with an ultimate goal of banning the Second Amendment for all except those in Government.

Disarmed societies are much easier to control...

Why support and vote for a party that wants to take away your rights in any election?
