There was a criticism that my posts are all about who shot who. Yes, that has been the trend. So I this will be about guns, family and shooting.
I can't buy any new guns, but I have a rifle picked out, an FN, it is totally bad looking. Since I do not hunt, any rifle I buy must be bad looking.
We went to Buca di Bippo today for Sunday brunch. Its expensive even with a discount 10 dollar off coupon. Food is good though. I love all the Italian pictures on the wall. Best deal by far for Sunday dinner is see a movie at the Marquee then take your stub next door to Red Robin and get 2 dollars off each burger.
I have been shooting once this year. I am way down on shooting, as I am afraid I will shoot up all my ammunition. I really don't want to have to scrounge around for it. Plus my FN 5.7 ammunition is now 2 dollars a bullet, and that is when I even see anyone with some for sale, which is rare. Walmart's shelves are still bare.

Wee you able to ever get 5.7 at Wal Mart? I looked because I was considering the FN 5.7 pistol. It is a really nice pistol and I wold like to get a PS90 and short barrel it but ammo availability put the nail in that idea!philip964 wrote: Plus my FN 5.7 ammunition is now 2 dollars a bullet, and that is when I even see anyone with some for sale, which is rare. Re: Guns, Family and Shooting
I don't have a 5.7, so I haven't done any great amount of looking for the ammo. However, the only places I remember ever seeing it were at gun shows, Cabelas a couple of times, and at a couple of on-line retailers. I too thought it was "cool" but WAY too hard to get the ammo.Syntyr wrote:Wee you able to ever get 5.7 at Wal Mart? I looked because I was considering the FN 5.7 pistol. Re: Guns, Family and Shooting
Walmart has never sold 5.7, ever. Probably never will. It is manufactured by various ammunition manufacturers under license. Each box comes with only the FN logo, I originally thought they were made by FN, but I was told by FN at the NRA convention that it is privately made. One nice thing the ammunition is very clean.
Cabellas sold FN up until the "shortage". They haven't seen any come through the store since. I bought two 50 round PS90 magazines during the "scare" just to have them in case I decided at a future date to buy a PS90. Unless the ammunition problem is solved, I doubt if I will buy a PS90 as that is $100 to fill one magazine.
At the last gun show I went to, only one person had 5.7 ammunition, that is where I got the $2 a bullet price. Previously the 5.7 ammunition was 22 to 27 dollars a box of 50. More than 9mm, but I really enjoy shooting the 5.7 handgun as it makes me feel good as I shoot very accurately with it. The handgun price went from $900 - $1250 to $2000 and higher. Not sure why. I am assuming everyone feels it will be banned, because of with the proper ammunition it penetrates vests.
Interesting how 9mm is as hard to get as 380 was a while back.

For what it's worth, the Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine had about 50 boxes each of 9mm, .40, and .45 today (all 50 round boxes of fmj). They also had about 20 boxes of .223. Other than that, it was bare bones with 95% of their pistol shelf showing "not in stock".philip964 wrote:

Walmart's selection, other than 30-06 and 7mm REM Mag, goes fast after they get new stock in. But Bass Pro in Grapevine and Cabela's in Ft. Worth have had pretty decent selections over the past couple of weeks.sfemti33 wrote:For what it's worth, the Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine had about 50 boxes each of 9mm, .40, and .45 today (all 50 round boxes of fmj). And you can actually by sub $.30/round 9mm ball ammo online (before shipping). So common calibers are becoming very available now.
In fact, I caught a deal from PSA via gunbot.net late last week for $.07/round .22 - after shipping. So I picked up my max 5 boxes.

This could be said about most any firearm!
Guns are like parachutes, if your ever in a situation that you need one and you dont have one, you'll probably never need one again.
