Got a Letter

#1

Post by TxCommish »

Got a letter this week from DPS saying they had not received my wife's CHL 100 for her renewal or that it was "incomplete." Knowing full well that I had included all the proper documents in the packet, I called their hotline. Speaking to one of their phone reps, (who would not talk to me about my wife's app, and would speak only to her,) I managed to get him to answer a general question. Turns out that the CHL 100 form (as I'm sure some on here already know,) has been revised. Our instructor had been told by DPS to "use up" the old versions and then start using the new. But, CHL licensing dept rejected the "old" CHL 100. We had to dig out our copy, go out to the range to meet the instructor and get him to re-do the CHL 100 on the "new" form and re-mail it to Austin. What a royal pain!! We have since found out that about half of her class had to do the same thing. Just a side note, the instructor is an old friend we have know for years who is retired law enforcement. He swears they told him he could use the old forms until he ran out.

In these government outfits, the left hand never knows what the right hand is doing, or what the left hand is doing either, or if there is one.

DPS issued my driver's license on July 2 but still doesn't have the information in the CHL database, or accessible to it, I guess. I've been trying to file online for ten days or so. When I called in, the young man said the data bases are separate and haven't been updated. He found my info. It just wasn't accessible by the DPS CHL database.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
