I google mapped the conference hotel then asked for nearby motels and the Econolodge jumped up. I think their price is in the $40 range. I probably will make reservations closer to the date. Not sure if I'm driving or riding the Megabus, yet. :)

Better than the almost $200 range for the conference hotel, (unless we have to deal with "crack 'women'", or car breakins)
Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target."

Rooms at the DoubleTree can be had for about $98/night + tax if you book through one of the discounted travel sites. I used Hotels.com.

I guess you'll have to teach me how to use that site. Looks to me that the price is the same $166+tax that I got when using the Hobby Hilton site.

The NRA email went out today and there are only 31 seats remaining. Also, the Early Bird Discount ends at midnight Friday (7/19).

If you want to attend the Conference, you should register soon.

OK---registered for the conference. Now to find a hotel! Do we get any kind of discount/group rate at the Hilton?

FYI -- I found MUCH better rates at the Hampton Inn Houston Hobby Airport hotel. Only something like a third of a mile from the conference.

I just talked to the hotel and was able to move the conference to a different ballroom. This increased our capacity by 80 people so we can now seat 200. I'm thankful they could still do this on such short notice, because we were down to 17 available seats with three weeks left.

Thanks,
Yes, the wife and I will probably make the ride down. We will probably go down the day before.

I am leaving early Thursday to try and beat the heat. I'll likely take 20 to 287 to 45. Let me know when your schedule and route.
