Nice piece, but I wonder if it defeats the purpose of the smaller Commander to have that big ol' beavertail and adjustable sights. Seems to me those things make it harder to conceal. I had a Colt years ago that now I wish I hadn't sold.

Looks and sounds nice. Yes to the O-rings. You could loc-tite them if you thought you wouldn't be changing grips very often. The blue is somewhat removable right? 242? Don't use the "Red" 271 or whatever. They are both in red tubes, so I get confused.

The blue is "removeable"...

I use it on my motorcycle in places where I don't want the screw to vibrate loose but do want to be able to remove it at some point...

Not at all. First, the sights are not really adjustable. In fact, they are virtually snagless combat sights. They are "windage adjustable" by drifting the rear sight in the dovetail, as are most pistol sights.

The beavertail is a non-issue. The only size difference between a full-size and a commander is that the barrel & slide are only 3/4" shorter.

I carry a commander every day. The biggest difference between mine and his Ruger are that mine has an aluminum frame and the grip has been bobbed... IOW, mine's a "bobtail commander".

on the topic of the grip screws, how hard is it to replace the grip screw bushings? I've been trying to fit some loprofile screws on and i cant get the bushings out.
Doing this because I had a similar issue with the screws coming loose.

Luckily, I've never had a problem. They do make screwdriver bits specifically for that:

All the Ruger's I have owened hare really been good. I really want that SR1911 in stainless! But my wife would kill me! I already bought 2 new handguns in the last 2 mounts!!!

Thanks for the heads up! Unfortunately, the current discretionary funds in the budget have been used for CHL renewal and a new rear tire for my bike, among other things. So it’s gonna have to stay on the list for now, albeit at the top. I’m sure it’s gone by now anyway.

LOL, I had this gun shipped to the Webster Academy they took care of the FFL transfer. The manager must have placed one on order. When I picked it up, I was the last one to see it. Everyone around the gun counter got to see it when the manager took me to the front to pay the transfer fee.

I've been carrying this pistol for over a week and it's more comfortable than my Glock 26.

Much to my great surprise, I was able to snag one of these (seriously, being a home FFL, I pretty much never can get newer guns like this). It is VERY nice. It’s a little heavier than my Sig C3, but aesthetically it’s much nicer as it follows the more classic 1911 lines. The price is also really tough to beat. I would love to keep it, but alas, the boss (my wife) says it must go, and with a baby on the way I can’t really justify adding to the collection right now. But I will eventually get one for myself.
