My plan was to stay in between the lawyers and confuse the sharks. Turns out, the only lawyer was my son. We had a bean counter, a beer truck driver and two sheet metal mechanics. And of coarse me, the HVAC guy.talltex wrote:03Lightningrocks wrote: Now... For the shark part of my question. Since I will be with at least a few attorneys, I feel I am at higher risk of being eaten if we sink. I have considered pretending I am a democrat since sharks will eat attorneys before resorting to democrats. I bet if I wear a pro-Obama shirt, I will be towed in off the water by the sharks. Even sharks don't like the stench of a socialist.in the unlikely event the boat sinks, you get eaten and the sharks will ignore the lawyers....simply a matter of professional courtesy.

While the number of incidents has dropped sharply since smugglers have started to build submarines, instead of pirating yachts, violent attacks till occur in cruising grounds all over the Caribbean.I did jokingly asked the captain if any fishing trips had ever been ruined by pirates. He laughed and said, not since they got Black Beard. Then a quick witted companion on the trip quipped that we won't be getting that close to Somalia.

Small craft, yachts, power and sail, have all fallen prey to modern "Pirates of the Caribbean". The ICC lists 5 bulk carriers, tankers, or freighters that were boarded in 2012 of the north eastern coast of South America in 2012 as well.

My post was prompted by your "quick witted companion's" quip. Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama are much closer to us than the Horn of Africa.03Lightningrocks wrote:We didn't quite make it out to the Caribbean.
While our CG does a great job, they can't be everywhere. There are no borders out there, no border patrol, no cops, no 911, bad things have in the past and will in the future, happen.
