Welcome / Just Saying Hi

Post by Callaway »

Hey everyone. Long time lurker/reader and finally decided to join the community. This site is filled with tons of useful information. I've literally spent at least 40 hours and must of read through at least 300+ threads.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself now that I've got my plastic. :coolgleamA:

No wally walk yet, but soon enough.

Howdy and welcome!

Where do you hail from? Give us some history.

I live in Austin. I guess I should update my profile huh ;)

Some history?

Well if you want a good laugh. I applied (filled out the application & paid) for my CHL 3 times in 6 years. I wasn't aware of the 90 expiration limit and of course I was never serious about getting it. I guess that's why they say 'third times a charm'.

Regardless, I'm finally a CHL holder and it's a great feeling and it's good to be apart of such a knowledgeable and friendly community.

Well I stalked the 'Waiting Room' for a couple of months just seeing how others were doing. It took me from 2/4 to 6/28 to get my CHL. We had some document mix-ups and confusion and then with my waiting forever my application expired again (90+ days) and then I had to call in and talk with a supervisor to get everything hashed out. After we had everything sorted out it took about a week to get my card in the mail. DPS is really helpful if you get the right people.

I haven't done the walk yet. I bought a new pistol on Friday for carry. Now I'm just waiting for my holster to arrive. Once the holster arrives I'll swing by Wally World. :anamatedbanana

Howdy! I'm a newbie too...got my plastic on Friday after 95 days mailbox to mailbox :anamatedbanana

I really like this forum also. People have seemed nice and very responsive on some questions/comments I have had. It feels like a "safe" place where I won't have to be embarrassed if I ask a stupid question, :headscratch

Hi y'all!

I've been reading this board thru my CHL process - found it so useful that I didn't need to ask any questions, but I do want to be an active member so I made an account.

I live in Austin and yes am a liberal (per strict dictionary definition) - so if you think all 'libs' are coming to take your guns- it's not true... unless you are selling real cheap! "rlol"

I love shooting, have an 'assault' rifle, and am looking for a .45 as my next purchase - maybe an FN FNX or a Kimber Ultra II - or an FN five-seven just to be a little different and hi-tech. As a result of that addiction and recent troubles we've had with our hood, the whole family has started shooting - wife has a Bursa and son has no got his first rifle, a black & silver 10/22 I bought and decked out with a scope and bi-pod.

I'm also a recovering motorcycle addict (but that will be solved as soon as I get the battery issues resolved on my Buell).

Glad to be here and learning more about the responsibilities of CHL - have a great 4th!
