We were working security at a party. The fellow seemed strange, possibly tipsy, so I was watching him. When he approached us on the far side of my partner, he made the statement. He backed off quickly. It turned out he knew my partner, but was making a very poor joke.

Well that's a cool first post. :coolgleamA:
Thanks. I don't talk much unless I have something to say.

Same here.

One time we were heading for lunch @ Lonesome Dove and ran into a LE stoppage/roadblock on 35 headed into Fort Worth (just below 820). I was looking around at what was a really strange looking situation when I saw a guy running for all he was worth from west to east across the intersate with an officer on his tail. At that point, I told my wife to keep her eyes open, made sure the doors were locked and put my pistol under my thigh.

I don't consider that "pulling" my gun and honestly, I'm glad not to have to have done so.

But, I'm also thankful to live in a state that has laws that permit me to defend myself if necessary.

I was walking along the road on my way back from Walgreen's with a friend, a truck was headed southbound and the occupant kept staring at me and then was leaning out of his truck to stare me down.
We kept walking after he had passed and then heard tires squealing, we both had been in similar situations and had a good idea what was going to happen next. We walked into the parking lot of a park and ride to give us some distance from the road. The truck pulled into the park and ride and came to a stop, the occupant got out and started fishing in his back seat. At this point I thought he was going to produce a shotgun which would cause the situation to go nuclear instead he pulled out a three foot pipe wrench and charged at me. I drew my G36 pistol and yelled at him to back off immediately, he ignored this and the kept coming at me. Just as I raised my pistol to acquire a sight picture he stopped and put down the wrench. He started apologizing and saying how we were not the guy's he was looking for, I told him that was alright and that we were going to continue on our way. The guy was spun out of his mind and told us how sorry he was before getting into his truck and driving off. My friend and I went to McBride's the next day where he bought himself a Ruger LCP. Neither of us have any doubt in our minds that we would not have made it out in one piece if something hadn't told me I should carry that night. Before that night I rarely carried except for walking the dog late at night, that experience made me into a firm every day carry believer.

Showing a weapon to prevent a violent confrontation is the first and preferred choice if it's totally unavoidable .

Sounds like you used "The Force".
These are not the Droids you are looking for.

Only once in a CC situation, and that was on account of two pitbulls charging at me, the wife, and our two wiener dogs. I can't stand people who have unleashed dogs in public spaces.
