Bigger than Hogzilla?

A few years ago an extraordinarily large feral hog was killed which made the news, "Hogzilla". Here's one that's supposed to be larger, more than 10 feet long and weighing more than 1000 lb. And it was supposed to have been killed by an 11 year old boy shooting a .50 S&W revolver.

Is this for real? Is it some kind of hoax? It's scary to think or running across one of these in the woods. I'd be surpised that an 11 year old could handle a that big a pistol.

The concensus seems to be that domestic hogs are being hunted as wild boars.

I purchased a couple Hampshire/Yorkshire mix pigs and a Duroc for show from a farmer that had a 670lb stud hog. No fences or pens could hold him... They just let him do whatever and go where ever he wanted. He always came back for his food.

So I can believe that this one is this big. The 670lb one looked like a larger cow with short legs...

Just now looked at the monsterpig.com site, and I gotta say... that looks photoshopped to me. And I'm not buying that a 11 year old shot that revolver 16 times, as claimed. And where are the "fist sized holes"?

Just doesn't pass the sniff test.

I know I have something now that will decimate, field dress, stuff links and hang from the treeline behind it to smoke, all at the pull of a 6 lb. trigger!

I got two hogs with my UCII this week.

Tuesday night our elderly neighbor called me at 9:30 pm with a massive water leak in her house.

I went running over on foot with some tools, my Surefire, and my UCII in my pocket. I got drenched from the busted hose on her clothes washer but got her squared away.

On the way back walking down our driveway I was practicing the Harries with my Surefire and UCII in the barn and on our long driveway.

When I swept the space by the barn I saw more than just the eyes of our dog.



There were three hogs rooting around in the corn hay round bales between the house and the barn.



When I spotted them they looked at me then went back to rooting. I was downwind as well.



I got to withing ten feet of the nearest one and shot him in the back. He grunted and sat down. The other two froze.

I shot the next one. It did the same thing. I then shot at the third one. It squealed and ran off.

The other two popped back up and ran after it.

These were Federal Hydrashocks and I clearly heard them hit. I could find no blood but given how they ran off in the rooted around hay, it might not be locatable. Shots were made from the rear at a 30 degree angle.

The people in the pictures at the monsterpig website look like they're quite a bit further away from the camera than the pig is; that's an old, OLD camera trick to make whatever's in the foreground (in this case, the pig) look bigger - a LOT bigger - than he really is.

I'm surprised you got that close...They are somewhat skittish and usually bolt at the slightest human presense...
