Anyone else local ISD posting 30.06 signs?

#1

Post by nightmare69 »

I work for a big public school and at every campus and every building they have posted a valid 30.06. Why? Anyone who has a CHL already knows that schools are off limits to carry so why post it?

What about a school building that does NOT house teachers or students, like our maintenance shop or the administration building? Its just us maintenance staff and our office workers here. If it was not posted and someone who has a CHL came in could they legally carry?

Posted or not posted, if it's part of the school premesis it's off limits. Even if it is for employees only.

My district is "posted" as well. SO redundant, but it is something to make the parents feel better.

Those signs have magical powers you know

Yes, CHL holders already know that school campuses are off limits. The signs are proven to be an effective way to stop school shooters from bringing a weapon on campus. [/sarcasm]

If it is a building, then it is a premise. Premises does not include sidewalks, parking lots or open grounds, but all school owned buildings would be off-limits.

Over the last year or two posting has expanded from parking lot entrances at just one administration building to every school, administration, stadium every parking lot entrance affiliated with the ISD in the entire city. Curiously the entrances to the actual premises i.e buildings are not posted. The city continues to post the city owned convention center as well enforced by the local police. I was very disappointed that HB508 was hijacked for purely elitist reasons and that SB16 apparently won't go forward in the special session. :mad5

My sister's, maid's, ex-husband's, nephew's, 2nd cousin's, friend, told me that she thought that folks other than CHL holders and 2A rights advocates have been known to visit this forum. Given the "what is effective notice, legal signs, etc." threads that are frequently running, is anyone surprised that gun control advocates might be disseminating the content of those threads to schools, theatres, restaurants, etc.?
Frankly, I'm surprised that more businesses haven't been posted in the more liberal metro areas of the state.

If that were really true then they would also have read that the Plano ISD finally realized that their signs were unenforceable and removed them. Or they just choose to ignore that and continue their bully tactics.

Especially in the past month.
The city is not a concrete jungle. It is a human zoo.

Well, they admitted they were unenforcable, but haven't removed them. :totap:

A while back I saw that our local ISD had posted a valid 30.06 on the local swim center.
At first I was surprised that the local swim center would have a 30.06, assuming it was owned by the City.
oops.... It's owned and maintained by the ISD.
The 30.06 was a good reminder (of a bad law).

Our high school has a pool in the parking lot but its owned and maintained by the city.
