Are these the only significant bills still in the grinder?

Yes and I don't anticipate any problems either. They have passed both bodies with amendments so each must go before their respective bodies to either concur or not. If not, then a conference committee can be convened. I expect the Senate to concur on SB1907, but I don't know about the House on HB508. The Carona amendment may be stripped off, but if so, I don't know if the Senate will approve the House change.

Thanks Charles. I'm calling my Representative to support acceptance of HB508 as amended. I do find the amendment offensive to CHL holders, however the good in the bill out weights my objection to the amendment. I see the amendment as neutral to non elected CHL holders.

Must have been quick all I say was recognition speeches. What has happened with HB 508? I didn't even see it on the calendar today.

What I see from the Texas Legislature Online is both these bills passed both the House and Senate and are in roue to the Governor. I am not reading this correctly?

Nope, both have been amended and have to be approved by the originating body or sent to a conference committee. Charles is confident with SB1907, not so much with HB508. Might want to get on the phone.

I really don't like the "postponed" for HB508. Might just die right there.

The "Bill Stages" tab on the Legistlature website, once you've pulled up a bill, doesn't have every step. It has the big pieces but it doesn't show anything for conference committiees for bill reconciliation.

Flow Charts on pages 39 and 40 of this document: http://www.tlc.state.tx.us/pubslegref/gtli.pdf#page=7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; have the process mapped out (same kind of process as the fed level). You can then follow where it is with the bill "Actions" tab. The Bill Stages tab is a much summarized flow and makes some bills look like they have gone to the Govornor when they are not quite there yet.

For HB508 it looks like the House didn't concur with the Senate amendment and they are putting together a conference committee

H House appoints conferees 05/23/2013
H House requests conference committee 05/23/2013
H House refuses to concur in Senate amendments 05/23/2013

I wonder if the TLO will post the senate members. Since Carona started this mess.

Here is a summary of what went on with HB 508. I've already written to each representative and my representative to get 508 done.
http://www.texastribune.org/2013/05/23/ ... /comments/

While personally, I'm disgusted with Sen. Carona's amendment, passing it as is, does not take away/restrict rights, does not cost anything, gives added protection to some, and gives hope that these freedoms will be extended in the future to all.

I don't care whether the amendment stands or not. However, the greater loss is for this bill to die. Senator Carona & company will have to explain to their constituents why they feel they deserve rights not granted to CHL's either way at this point.

I also think passing this bill with or without fuels more talk about bills along the lines of HB 3218 in 2015.
