Odd reply to my CHL-8
I usually get 2 replies to a sent CHL-8. One that is automated immediately after sending, saying someone will get with me. Then a day later, I get one that says "The Dept is in receipt of your form." Yesterday, I sent the CHL-8 and got the usual automated, but today I received one that said
"Mr. Goforth,
The department received your document and will get this into the hands of a CHL Instructor Specialist for handling.
Dannette
Contact Center Manager"
I'm probably just paranoid, but this odd wording made me concerned. Anyone received anything of this nature?
I send mine to: RSD_Customer_Relations@dps.texas.gov

Ohhh, you're in big trouble now... You're about to be "handled" by a specialist!

Lol...yeah.... just NEVER received anything but an automated or stock reply, seemed odd so wondering if anyone else ever gets anything beside the stock.

Re: Odd reply to my CHL-8
Superchief, I had the same thing happen. I submitted my CHL-7 via the website as an attachment, as we were told we could do. I got no confirmation mail of any kind. So, after thinking about it, I sent an e-mail, with the CHL-7 as a .PDF to the mail address mentioned above, stating that I had tried via fax (fast busy signal) and then via the website and got no confirmation, so I was sending it to the mail address.
I got a response back simply stating "The department is no longer sending out confirmations."
I agree it would have been nice to know, as I was thinking my submissions got lost in an electronic hole somewhere. I have the documentation to back it up, but I wanted to avoid problems with them saying they never received anything from me.....

That's not worth a notification to all instructors?

Re: Odd reply to my CHL-8
When I became an instructor in 2010 I was told I could send 7 via email but had to send 8 via USPS. Since when have we been able to send 8 via email?
I have to say that the communication, or rather lack there of, we receive is scary. We are the ones teaching people the laws of handgun carry and the use of deadly force. You would think we might be somewhere near the top of the list to keep informed. If it wasn't for this site I would be flying blind half the time. Maybe they should start paying Chas for having the website for us...
