This Is No Ordinary Scandal
Political abuse of the IRS threatens the basic integrity of our government.

We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they're seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration's credibility deeply, probably irretrievably damaged. They don't look jerky now, they look dirty. The patina of high-mindedness the president enjoyed is gone.

Something big has shifted. The standing of the administration has changed.

As always it comes down to trust. Do you trust the president's answers when he's pressed on an uncomfortable story? Do you trust his people to be sober and fair-minded as they go about their work? Do you trust the IRS and the Justice Department? You do not.

Peggy Noonan is about as squishy as republicans can get, and she gets it with regard to the administration's current predicament: NOBODY trusts them anymore, not even those who voted for him.

why did the irs access over 10 million medical records?
and for what purpose?
who made that request?
do not blame the affordable health care act as a reason.
you accessed medical records about treatments and other issues.............WHY and whose authority

no one has brought up the request from IRS for BOOK REPORTS from organizations seeking tax exempt status
or the request from IRS to file the future political aspirations of any of your tax exempt groups members
whoopps he admitted the IRS provided horrible customer service, but didnt say why the above had to be answered under threat of perjury

So all these scandals, now what will it all amount to besides 0. I see a whole lot of nothing except the Republicans gain some seats in 2014 and then it is back to business as usual and to heck with the people. The Repubs are only a slightly better evil.

No, she's not, but on the other hand she did chide republicans in this article, saying:

And it would be shameful and shallow for any Republican operative or operator to make this scandal into a commercial and turn it into a mere partisan arguing point and part of the game. It's not part of the game. This is not about the usual partisan slugfest. This is about the integrity of our system of government and our ability to trust, which is to say our ability to function.

She's wrong about that. When the 2016 election cycle starts, EVERY republican running for president should remind listeners that THIS is what they get when they vote democrat. I'm no republican any longer, but I'd rather have a republican in the oval office, even a slightly squishy republican, than another democrat.

Republicans share the blame for the state of the nation up to 2008, but EVERYTHING since then is on the democrats. Everything. People need to be reminded of that, and if that offends Peggy Noonan's sensibilities, that's too bad.

I thought the state of the nation was pretty good except for the real estate bubble which cost me very dearly, although not as dearly as some. The real estate bubble is entirely the fault of the Democrats, from the Community Reinvestment Act of 1978 as amended in 1992, to the ascendency, unchecked, of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac, unchecked because the Democrats would rather be marinated in sheep poop than see a single subprime borrower not get the house he couldn't afford. The ramifications of all this cost the rest of us big time. I was in the industry the entire time, as a real estate lawyer, lender, investor, builder, etc. One of these days, I expect to these this entire fiasco written up as the latest chapter in Memoirs of Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds.

We had a decent man of dignitude in the Oval Office, who would have been even more decent if he had had a good majority in the Senate. Contrary to the current gang, I do not blame anything on El Diablo, as he is known in some circles. I'd have emphasized some things he didn't, couldn't probably, like repeal Glass-Steagall, outlaw branch banking, and get a declaration of war from Congress, then actually engage in war, instead of these namby-pamby "go fight these guys but don't make anybody mad" rules of engagement that remind me of BJ.

We need to not waste this crisis. Get people so stirred up that nothing the Dems want to do will ever get a vote. They're crooks, liars, and more besides.

Nixon got the boot because he got caught acting like a Democrat. Obama and his crew ought to get the boot because they got caught acting like Nixon!

I do not believe that partisanship was involved in targeting 100% of the Tea Party groups, 100% of the Patriot groups and 100% of the Constitutional groups. Honest to God. I'm serious. I really do not believe it. These were just innocent mistakes by a bunch of low level bureaucrats. Nothing to see here. Let's move on.

10 Million Medical Records--what for?....
For lots of things that can be used for blackmail or to ruin someone. You tell your doctor everything. I would guess lots of the inappropriate questions the IRS was using was to mine for information that was never meant for the IRS to keep. It was all for someone else's use. I can not imagine who that would be.
