And this is a status update on the bill and law that is being passed in Missouri to prevent that from happening again. This is a portion of an article is by a friend of mine who is the State Rep that authored the bill.
License issue resolution soon
We have had a very busy last few weeks with the budget front and center while discussions involving the Medicaid Expansion and 2nd Amendment issues continued.
Department of Revenue
This issue has been discussed at length in here in the state Capitol in the wake of the lawsuit that challenges the department's new policy. As you may know, the lawsuit was filed by Stoddard County resident Eric Griffin after he was told his birth certificate and other residency documents had to be scanned into the department's system. This new policy has angered both citizens and my fellow legislators, who have serious concerns that the state revenue department may pass along this information to the federal government.
Before our legislative spring break, officials from the department came to the state Capitol to answer questions about how the private information of Missouri citizens is being handled. After the hearing, many of us felt like additional safeguards must be put in place to protect Missouri citizens. To that end, we have seen numerous bills filed to prevent the revenue department from scanning and sharing information that could be used to create a federal gun owner database.
Already, the Speaker of the House has fast tracked my bill through the legislative process. This bill, HB 787, is meant to ensure that the private information of Missouri citizens remains private. Specifically, it prohibits the department from scanning personal information and submitting it to an out-of-state database. You can be certain that I will continue the fight to not allow your privacy or your Second Amendment rights to be violated! We will see a resolution to this matter this legislative session and I'm sure the final outcome will be one that is appreciated by all law-abiding gun owners in Missouri. I will do my best to keep you informed on this important issue.
As you may have heard, many businesses involved with the manufacturing of guns and ammunition are seeking to leave their current states due to recent overregulation. I think it is very important our State leaders reach out to these businesses and invite them to come tour our state and area.

I don't think many are surprised at the level many of our elected officials have fallen.gthaustex wrote:texanjoker wrote:This can happen anywhere.baldeagle wrote:Show of hands. How many think this can't happen in Texas? How many think it hasn't already? If they did Missouri, you can bet they've done all the states.
Unfortunately, nothing government does surprises me anymore. It seems pretty much everywhere I look, ethics has gone out the window if someone can get ahead financially, politically, etc.
I should qualify that by saying that this seems to me to happen not where line personnel are involved, officers, deputies, DMV workers, etc., but at the upper levels where decisions are made. How sad....

When you apply for Texas CHL and they do a fed check on you, don't the feds have your id right then and there? Supposedly for a purchase background check they don't "keep" the info but what do they keep when you do CHL? Are we not already "registered"? This is a question and not a statement.

Report: Repeated Attempts To Access MO CCW Database Using Leaked Password

Something smells in Missouri ?
http://www.redstate.com/dloesch/2013/05 ... -password/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; There’s evidence that someone tried to access the state website that has the list of all Missourians who have concealed weapons permits. Yesterday morning, someone tried to access the website 23 times. Governor Nixon’s administration says it is trying to find who is behind the incident. Reportedly, the login info used on the House computer was the same info the state gave a federal Social Security agent who requested the list of permit holders; supposedly, that agent was trying to find evidence that Social Security recipients with a mental health diagnosis might have a state issued weapons permit.
