Gave just enough nods toward pro-gun points of view that they'll claim they were objective, but it was a typical NBC fear-mongering hatchet job.

The selection of James Yeager to represent "AR-15 culture" was a calculated, purposeful decision to show a crazy prepper who flat out said "I'm going to kill people". Likewise the 3D printing wiki weapon guy - the "anarchist" is another AR-15 boogeyman to scare the good little progressives who watch a lot of NBC programming.

Sadly, they showed just enough of Julianna Crowder (who, in person, is a super lady, BTW) for the libtards to roll their eyes with disdain.

I saw it was on and set it to DVR. I figured it would be an overall hatchet job. I watched the first five minutes and thought...hmm....they can't be this objective the whole way through. It sounds like I was correct. I'll probably still watch it just so I can have a self induced headache.....

The inclusion of Mr. Yeager was definitely a setup to the overall theme, "Bad Gun, with nut job /confused/uneducated supporters"

Okay, I watched the show and I guess it was fairer that I thought NBC could be.
Yeah there were a few face palm moments but hey, if the left has to own their idiots I guess the right has to own theirs too.

CONS:
Mr. Yeager part was downer! But he wouldn’t be a “vocal” voice if people didn’t have over vast amounts of money and give him an audience. Plus, he walked out on a question of his actions and words!
The 3D gun segment, fair but unnecessary – it is NBC after all. Not sure how it really added to the discussion.

Pros:
I liked the Girls with Gun segment, showed real women and why they like the AR-15.
They were clear on the history of the AR designation, the difference between an AR and M16/4.
And most shocking of all, real stats/facts on the gun deaths by an AR vs other guns!

Do betters:
Wish they had expanded on the difference between an AR and the M1, showing the ballistics, or “how powerful” the bullet fired form each would be. To contrast with the “medical” evidence of the trauma from an AR-15.
They didn’t go out of their way to find the fringe element on the left that wants to ban, confiscate and outlaw the AR, but then again this in still NBC. That is the regular audience on NBC!

One big error they made in the history.
They continue to call the military versions "full auto" when in fact they are not.

They are "select fire" (3 round bursts). They were changed from full auto to select fire sometime during Vietnam (2nd issue of the rifle). They even said "full auto" while showing a picture of a Class 3 version, clearly printed on the switch positions "BURST".

At least they confirmed that the civilian version is in fact semi-auto only and NOT full auto or select fire. Unless of course you buy a Class 3 version which will be select fire.

there seems to be a lot of confusion .

The m16a1 (vietnam,triangle grip) was select fire (meaning the rifle has 3 settings , semi, auto, safe)

the m16a2 incorporated the vaunted a2 sights, and a different select fite trigger group (safe,semi, 3 round burst)


the m16a3 is a modernized rifle that did away with the burst fire it has semi, full auto, and safe.

the m16a4 uses a m4 upper (with m4 feedramps and barrel extension)
detachable carry handle and quad rail, and has semi, burst and safe.

I was referring to the AR-15 Civilian Models (class 3) that were depicted in the Show and incorrectly spoken by the narrator as full auto.

I only referenced Vietnam/M-16A1/A2 to highlight the change from full auto to select fire versions.

I admit is was a little negative towards guns but I think it was as good as we could have hoped for considering who was presenting it. WATCH THE INTERVIEW with Brian Sullivan who did the story below. It even seems like from the interview that he kind of got it. I am not saying he is going to rush out and buy an AR but he seems to understand its appeal. He does say that AR's are 22 gauge which is annoying for anyone who knows anything about guns. LOL.

I do think they picked James Yeager for the reasons others have stated but I don't think he did a bad job. They picked him so they could show his Youtube video. He walked out on the questions because DHS is still trying to take his carry permit even after the Tennessee courts gave it back to him. He was just avoiding anything that might hurt his fight. Its silly really because he is a retired police officer and can carry under federal law. So taking his carry permit is really pointless. He has admitted that his video was kinda like yelling fire in a crowded theater and that the State did the right thing by taking his permit.

A Tennessee judge gave his permit back stating that he was not a threat. However, Tennessee Department of Homeland Security appealed the ruling so he is still fighting to get it back. James is hot headed but he knows his stuff and his company Tactical Response is a quality company to get training from whether you like James or not. He just lost his cool and grabbed a camera. He knows he screwed up. I know people don't like him but that's my opinion on the guy. Overall I liked the piece and thought it didn't attack AR15 owners nearly as bad as they could have.
