NOTE POLICE DEFINITION OF DANGEROUS AMOUNT OF AMMO
Sunday night; 9:30 pm. Central time, from Associated Press, quoting the Boston, Mass police commissioner.
"After the two brothers engaged in a gun battle with police early Friday, authorities found many unexploded homemade bombs at the scene, along with more than 250 rounds of ammunition.
Police Commissioner Ed Davis said the stockpile was "as dangerous as it gets in urban policing."
"We have reason to believe, based upon the evidence that was found at that scene - the explosions, the explosive ordnance that was unexploded and the firepower that they had - that they were going to attack other individuals. That's my belief at this point." Davis told CBS's "Face the Nation."
Obviously, this is only one North-Eastern Liberal city's notion of how much ammunition two people should have in their home... granted terrorists planning to kill Americans, but from the verbiage enough to be viewed beyond the norm for gun owners. Just a glimpse into the minds of law enforcement ?

oh pooopie I would hate to hear what he says about most of my friends supplies
i have over 1k in 22lr rounds for my plinker pistol...but i dont live in an urban settting

I could see the concern of finding 250 rounds in a terror den. but i bet most who own personal protection devices have more that.

I'm sure most of us do.... just a bit disconcerting to see in writing what law enforcement officials term "too much" and by inference what "the government" sees as too much.

Re: NOTE POLICE DEFINITION OF DANGEROUS AMOUNT OF AMMO
Some people could easily go through 200 rounds in about an hour at the range.
Wow, and those two had OVER 250 WHOLE rounds?!?!
That could be like uh, almost three WHOLE boxes of ammo!
As dangerous as it gets? Really?
Gimme a break.
I have 1 box of 100 rds of Federal 9mm FMJ's I'm keeping unopened. Ammo is so difficult to come by, that I'm thinking of never shooting it, and instead putting that box on display. Sort of like you do when you catch a rare animal, like a unicorn.
I wonder what he thinks of how much ammo DHS has purchased and is stockpiling for 'training' purposes. Enough for 20 years of war is what I read.

He might have been concerned with the unexploded homemade bombs.
And I'm pretty sure those "250 bullets" had no intention to be used in a self defense situation.
I can't defend a criminal or a "bad guy with a gun".

Read in context, I think the chief was speaking about the unexploded ordnance rather than the 250 rounds which is hardly exciting.1wise1 wrote:Sunday night; 9:30 pm. Central time, from Associated Press, quoting the Boston, Mass police commissioner.

In these days of ammo shortages, most of us would call 250 rounds under prepared and almost out for lawful gun owners.

In context, he (mis) used the word "firepower" and that could only mean the number of guns and ammo in liberalspeak because even they don't call bombs firepower.Excaliber wrote:Read in context, I think the chief was speaking about the unexploded ordnance rather than the 250 rounds which is hardly exciting.1wise1 wrote:Sunday night; 9:30 pm. Oh, man. I have a 300 Win Mag. If I wanted 5000 rounds for that, I'd have to take out a home equity loan!Seventhsword wrote:I try not to let my supply drop under 5,000rds per caliber for the firearms I own..
