Well, well, well, this sure didn't take long.

Senator to Introduce Legislation Requiring Background Checks for Sale of Explosive Powder
“If we are serious about public safety, we must put these common-sense safeguards in place. While the police have not revealed what specific explosive materials were used in Boston, what we do know is that explosive powder is too easy to anonymously purchase across the country.”

We all knew this was coming, it was just a matter of when.

Having made my own "powder" out of common household items during my misspent youth (a very long time ago) this has interesting implications.

So now we outlaw aluminum, flour, and powdered sugar.

The phrase "common-sense" coming from a politician's mouth generates a nearly instantaneous wretching these days.

The difference is back-door gun control. If a background check is required for powder, and one can empty out all ammunition and get all the powder you want, then it stands to reason that we'll need background checks and controlled access to ammo. Boom. Gun control. Common sense measures and all that.

There are a whole lot more things that are explosive than just blackpowder and smokeless powder. Those may be the easiest to use for something like the bombings, but there are many others. You just need to contain the reaction and you have a bomb....

Maybe we should just not have any public gatherings that way those innocent bombs won't go boom.

The way the Constitution is being trampled, I honestly don't think those in power would have a problem with banning or limiting large public groups either.....

I don't see how making it hard to get gun powder will stop something like the Boston Bombing incident.
There are too many ways to cause trouble it is impossible to stop every way without colapsing our society
