As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

(CNN) - The National Rifle Association-sponsored NASCAR race slated for this weekend is "inappropriate in the immediate wake of the Newtown massacre," Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Connecticut, wrote to the race's broadcaster on Thursday.

"The race not only brings national attention to an organization that has been the face of one side of this heated debate, it also features the live shooting of guns at the end of the race," Murphy wrote to Rupert Murdoch, the chairman and chief executive of News Corporation, which owns the channel Fox Sports where the race will be broadcast.

You can't make this stuff up.

Stupidity knows no bounds.

Election to public office results in total loss of ability to think logically and coherently in most cases.

When elected official's brains are destroyed by their overconsumption of political koolaid the vacuum void is replaced by an overabundance of thought fed by emotions.

There are no words that can truly describe how worthless these types of statements are.

The winner has fired 2 revolvers after the race for the last several years, has nothing to do with NRA sponsorship....

What an uneducated idiot.

That guy seems a bit unclear on the meaning of "immediate"...

The principle of the "scapegoat" has its origins in ancient history.

And it is no less powerful today's cultures.

I sent him this message.
You should be ashamed of yourself. This is America, where the First Amendment is SUPPOSED to still apply. Yet you use your position as a Senator to try to bully an opponent into silence?

If you cared one whit about the victims of Newtown, you would have asked President Obama not to fly them on Air Force One and parade them around like trophies to promote his agenda.

You are a disgrace. You should resign. But the vast majority of you jerks could care less what the average man thinks. You're all about increasing your power, and ignoring the people's voice.

Our founding fathers are rolling over in their graves.

Seeing as how we live practically in the shadow of TMS, I can tell you this - I certainly have not seen any signs of attendance being down for this race!
