The answer to this question seems to be the same answer I give to my anti-gun friends when they ask, "Why do you have a gun?"

Their response seems to be like yours: "You're going to get into trouble!"

Your response makes no sense. We're not talking about why you own a gun.
We're talking about the supposed benefit of having a non-resident CHL vs a Texas CHL.
The only benefit I can see is to circumvent the process that the state of Texas has put in place.

Reciprocity with Virginia is part of the process Texas has in place.

If you want to argue the Texas process is subverting the right guaranteed by the Second Amendment by requiring a license, thats worth discussing.

You know, I really didn't mean to start an argument.

I only made the original post so folks that are interested could get an idea about wait times.

It looks like they might have a financial incentive to push the Texas class requirement.

Well now, there's someone right there that didn't do very much research either. I am not a CHL instructor.

I would wear my fingers to the bone quoting posts that demonstrate passing the Texas CHL class doesn't mean someone knows Texas law.
I was able to answer almost every question the instructor would ask during class. He asked me if I was renewing my Tx CHL...and I said nope, getting my 1st CHL ever. He then asked how I knew so much. I said that I had a Utah CWP and I spent many hours learning the LAW at this site. Gave the web address to many from my class. Good stuff in this .com

Wow I never realized my post would cause this. I travel to Langley every month, so I wanted to have a Virginia CHL. I sure did not mean to start any trouble on this site.
