Sad thing is in the time I've been waiting, I have ordered and received a Comp Tac MTAC and a Dave Bullard IWB holster.

The Dave Bullard was one of their in stock models but the Comp Tac was custom made.

I'm done with it. Got better things to do than try and track this guy down to get him to talk to me.

Great thing about shopping with Discover. They take care of their customers in disputes.

I would not have a problem with the length of time for the order as I have waited longer than that for other brands. Quality takes time.

However, I would have a problem with the failure to communicate and I think that is what the OP was saying as well.

IMHO, a failure to return an email stating the issue would have caused this thread to be non-existant. I can't say that I wouldn't have cancelled my order if I didn't get a response either.

If. I was waiting and got an email like that from any business it would be enough to cancel. Like he asked.

So many have complained about this email and even been insulted by it that I had to go back and reread it to see what all the fuss was about. I still don't get it. Basically it says what we all know to be true. Orders are backed up through the roof, supplies are hard to get and wait times for order fulfillment have steadily increased. What's the big deal? It's not like this isn't common knowledge.

I ordered an upper on 2/8. I've had, so far, one phone call from the company confirming that my order was received. It says right on their website that shipping will be six to eight weeks minimum. Why do I need to get constant reminders from them?

I had to "camp out" on Joe Bob Outfitters website in order to get my lower. Within 15 minutes after they announced availability they were sold out. I paid $161 for it. I could have bought one any time I wanted to on gunbrokers for $280. I'll take the hassle of having to be patient and wait for the right minute over paying double any day.

I ordered magazines from a company that says orders will be filled in 3 to 4 months. Should I bug them every week asking them the status of my order? Multiply that by the number of orders they have and you can imagine it would take several fulltime people just to respond. How would you like to deal with an inbox getting thousands of emails every day asking for status rather than filing orders as fast as you can?

As for accusing forum members of something nefarious, he didn't. He simply said, if you're frustrated, if you don't trust us, if you feel like bad mouthing us on the internet, just cancel the order. We'll understand.

Anyone who's been in business for any time at all knows that you can't staff for the most extreme situations. Once the demand drops, you'll be way over staffed and lose money in a hurry. Especially if you're an ethical company and refuse to jack your prices through the roof to take advantage of the demand (like Cheaper Than Dirt - what a joke that name has become!)

It's real simple. If you don't think the holster is worth waiting for, then cancel your order. If you do, then take a chill pill, go do something else for a while and enjoy your new holster when it finally arrives.

Can you get the ammo you want at prices you're willing to pay?

Yeah. I didn't think so.

These are unusual times. Cut the companies some slack. They're doing the best they can with a massive avalanche of demand and hundreds of angry and impatient "buyers" who think they're so special they should get their hands held and get special treatment while the rest of us wait patiently knowing our stuff will eventually arrive.

Now I'm going to go to their website and order one. When it comes in, I'll let y'all know what I think of it.

As the OP, my issue is that I can't get in touch with the guy to cancel. He is well past his promise date, won't answer any of my e-mails, never gave me a phone number...

My only choice is to cancel via my credit card company who asked me to give him a full 30 days beyond his promise date (which I am doing).

My intent with the original post was just to find out if anyone else was having issues, or maybe if the guy just lost mine (again, hard to tell when he won't talk to you).

As for the ammo question, the answer is maybe. The difference is, I don't give the ammo store my money and then wait with no communication trying to guess whether it will come or not.

Thanks for your input. Good luck with your holster.

Every order I've placed online charged my cc immediately. Even if shipping was projected to be 3 or 4 months. I understand your issue, and I don't blame you for doing what you're doing. It was the comments of some others that prompted my post.

Yup. Just trying to make sure I don't get accused of bashing TactiPac. I was intrigued by his holsters and would like to have one, it just really rubs me the wrong way that he won't update the shipping times on his website and communicate an accurate delivery date to me.

Thanks for the note.

:iagree:

It would be easy to post a schedule update and apology on your web site and offer an easy way to cancel for folks that didn't want to wait. Bad business decision to come here and complain, rather than explain. IMO, YMMV.

I would say he has a ways to go on the website front. It's very non-intuitive figuring out the shopping cart so you can actually order from him. Looks like he's still in the learning phase with some of this. I just ordered the FusionPac with two mag holders for my P239. Almost didn't get the order placed because I couldn't figure out how to get to the shopping cart. At $119.99 and no shipping charge, considering that you don't need a belt to use it, the price seems reasonable to me, and I've never seen a holster that included mag pouches, much less two.

Once I get it and have a chance to try it out, I'll post something about it here in case others are curious but don't want to spend the money without more info. I have a few holsters already that didn't live up to the hype in real world use. (I carry every day, and I don't make special adjustments to accommodate my gear. It has to work the way I work.)

CompTac's shipping time is five business days right now, but they're a big, established company that's been around for a while. I just got a new holster from them.

My impression is that Andrew hasn't been in business that long (maybe two years) and is still ironing out kinks in his operation.

An update: I ordered a holster on 3/25 and got acknowledgement of the order that same day. Today I received this (I deliberately munged the link so no one would click on it):

I clicked on the link and promptly got a second email:
Baldeagle , thank-you for your holster order from TactiPac - Tactical Solutions Provider. We are a small company and make every item custom when you order.

You may have noticed that our "estimated delivery" times are a little lengthy (if you haven't read our shipping and handling times please visit this link: shipping and handling ).

Now Baldeagle you might be thinking "why does it take this long?". As I mentioned, we are a small shop. In fact, we are a small, family run shop. Our handling and shipping times are set to accommodate hand making, sizing and fabrication as well as service delivery times (and allow short times for things like family time, raising children, range practice, dry fire drills, walking the dog ... well you get the picture).

Thank-you very much for your patience in this process.

Just so you know, because we are a small company, we typically don't have the manpower available to personally answer "order status" inquiries, but we will update you via our email order update system.

We want you to know that you are important to us and we are working very hard to get your holster out in a timely manner. We will provide you with weekly updated information via email and tracking information via email as soon as your order ships out.

Included each week in your weekly order update will be one of our CCW Tip messages to help you become a better informed, armed and ready citizen.
Thank-you again for making the choice to defend yourself and those you love.

God bless you and yours,

They look identical to the notices I got when I placed my order (see cut and pasted version below).

I got 4 weekly updates and then they stopped.

Still nothing from all my attempts to contact them via e-mail (I never did get a phone number as promised)

I hope yours goes better than mine.

Pasted e-mail follows:

RJGold, is it possible that your spam filter on your email has mistakenly categorized the updates as junk? You may want to check your junk mail folder to see if the updates are there. That happens to me on occasion, where email newsletters and notices somehow find themselves there.
