I don't get it... What's the point of ruling something out? Wouldn't that be a bit like saying "I will not have pizza for dinner next Thursday"? I mean who cares? It's not like there isn't time for her to change her mind either way before the primaries start.

Making a statement that they "will not rule out" something is politicians way of saying they are probably going to do it but it isn't clear yet if it will completely backfire in their face and cost them their job.

It is a toe in the water before jumping in, if it is too cold they can back out, but they didn't pack up the car, drive to the pool and put on a bathing suit for nothing.
