CHL using somebody else's personal info...possible?
My neighbor just walked across the street, shirtless, with a 9mm in his waistband and mentioned that he got his CHL. Strange, because he was convicted of a felony drug charge as a teenager and has talked before about not being able to get his CHL (dear wife buys guns for him). When asked, he said that he used his dad's personal information and they issued the permit. Is that possible? Seriously? I understand you might be able to pass off a name (which may or may not be the same/similar) and address, but this dude does not look like a 70 year old guy. He would have submitted photographs. He would have provided fingerprints. I call Barbra Streisand on that...what says the group?

Was this a Texas CHL, or another state?

Hopefully he was lying. If not he will soon find himself doing time in federal pin again.

I'm sure someone on the forum will be posting a news link about him in they near future.

Maybe you should have called the police and reported a naked man with a gun.texiss33 wrote:My neighbor just walked across the street, shirtless, with a 9mm in his waistband

Ask him if you can take a look at his CHL card.

If he had his CHL and was walking across the street shirtless with his 9mm in his waistband, he was no longer on his property and therefore already (apparently again?) illegal and open carrying a weapon.
If he was convicted of a felony as a child, would that count against him? no idea.

If this is true I would call DPS.
I would also refuse to associate with a shirtless man packing his pistol that flaunted the law so openly.
Again, if true, this needs to be dealt with.

Re: CHL using somebody else's personal info...possible?
Is this a serious question? Identity theft happens all the time. Getting licenses using false information happens all the time. Straw buys to put firearms in felons (and idiots) hands happens all the time. Nothing makes any of it right.
My main concern if it was me, would be about my property value as I'd be selling and moving out of a place that has neighbors like that, and leave LE dealing with him and his wife as I drive off to my new home, far away. :D

I wouldn't admit on the Internet to being an accessory to felon in possession.

I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.
