Now, now, don't let those pesky facts get in the way of a totally emotional issue.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

I am no friend of the unions -- in fact, I could go on a union rant but will not. However, I believe blaming gun control laws on the unions in the 1900-period is misrepresentation, and thus hurts the credibility of his argument.

Are you sure about that regarding the unions? The reasons would have been the same. They would have wanted to disarm those that opposed them and strong-arming politicians to pass those laws might have been a reasonable way of doing that. Of course, however, it may not have been too difficult to convince democratic politicians to pass those kinds of laws in the first place. This wasn't too long after the Civil War and it would have been just one more group of people they wanted to control.
