Irving gun show

Just got back from the Irving gun show. $9, free parking and my 2 boys got in free so I figured even if I didn't buy anything it would be a fun morning with my kids.

Bought a really cheap holster for my wifes sigP290, a sling for my AR and a firing pin for my Garand (just in case)

Ammo prices are beyond ridiculous but they had plenty of everything. At the prices they had, no one was buying. I saw Federal 550 22lr boxes priced at $250!!!!!!

The one table selling bullets wasn't too absurd and prices got better as you approached the 1000 bullet mark. They had 1 box of .312 bullets for 303 British but the guy wanted $32 which is more or less an 80% markup on bullets that aren't that hard to find. 303 has been spared the ammo rush and I calmly explained that to him. He shrugged and said "so don't buy em".

30rd steel AR mags were around $35-40 and so were Pmags. Plenty on the shelves and I didn't see anyone clamoring for them.

Prices for pistols seemed about the same and AR's were typical gunshow high end price. Lots of private sellers walking around.

If you're desperate for ammo at any price, they have it, but otherwise don't waste your time.

Yeah, I went looking for 9mm ammo and the best I saw was WWB for $29.00 or reloads for 20.00. Gonna check out the TSRA tomorrow

I don't understand why people would buy at that price when they are in a city that has stores that stock daily. My wife and I go to Academy a few times a week 15 minutes before they open and pick up at brick of 22 LR for $19.99 (525) or $15.99 (325). Yeah, there are 50 people in front of us, but we are able to pick up 22 LR, 9mm and 7.62x39 every time. This week I picked up over 1800 22 LR. The Academy I go to gets a truck with ammo Tues - Sat. Sat. they get two trucks.

I'm sure there are people here that wouldn't pay the price I pay since they reload their self. I don't have the equipment and I'm not sure I have the time. How long does it take to cast and load a 1000 rounds?

I don't pay those crazy prices either. My local Academy has increased their prices by 10% in the last 3 weeks. Here is my rundown on the local stores to me. YMMV:

Academy is limited to 3 boxes total and each has to be a different caliber - MWF deliveries
Wal-mart No increase but limited to 3 boxes of any caliber and combination - 7 days, seems to come TWF
Cabela's - 10-18% increase in pricing. Limited to 10 boxes of each manufacturer - All the time
Bass Pro - 10-20% increase. Limiting Qty
LSR - 25% increase and varying restriction on different calibers

You listed Academy twice. I've notice that Academy delivers different brands throughout the week. Sometimes I can pick up 9mm(50) for $9.99 and somtimes I picked up 9 mm(50) for $14.99 like today.

I was at Irving and sold off my last 3 boxes of PMC 9mm just walking around. I'm reloading now so I figured why not make a few bucks while drastically undercutting the vendors prices at the same time?

It was my first gun show experience since moving from Virginia and I have to say it was much smaller that I had expected. How does the Irving show compare to other DFW shows size wise?

Both the Dallas (Dallas Arms Collectors show) and Ft. Worth ( FT. Worth Original Gun show) shows are huge in comparison.
