Did they have ADD?

We had just as many guns back when I was a teen, and just as many violent books/games/shows/films, but I don't recall kids going ballistic until they started putting them all on "good" drugs.

IMO, there needs to be another HARD look at all the crap being distributed to people for the same supposed "woes" all us older folks experienced and handled WITHOUT needing some doctor to fill a prescription.

My son quit going "ballistic" after he started on his medication. He is a great kid, smart and very caring. His Mom and I never could figure out why he kept going off on kids. Now he doesn't and is rapidly growing into a fine young man.

I do not doubt you in the least. The medication that was given to your kid worked for him. That is a good thing. However, I believe that due to the complexity of the human brain, these medicines are given to some folks with very bad results. Call it a side-effect. A lot of folks take Tylenol every day for pain and fever relief, yet not everyone can tolerate it. Why should these psychotropic meds be any different? The difference is that while the side-effects of Tylenol on a person who cannot physically tolerate it may be deadly for that person, the side-effects of these psychotropic meds on those who cannot tolerate them may be deadly to others...

I totally agree. It took going through a total of four different medications to get him to where he was functional in a social-sense yet still himself.
