OWB For a Glock 19 Suggestions/Pictures
I want to expand my CHL horizons and so I would like to check out OWB carry. So far I've only ever pocket carried a .32 auto, used a crossbreed for my glock 19, and a sticky holster for my glock 19.
I keep hearing that OWB is pretty comfortable and still mostly easy to conceal.
I would love to have a leather one, but the two places I've looked into have a 25 and a 12 week lead time right now so that won't quench my curiosity (although they look good enough to order one anyways).
I would love to see what you guys carry OWB for your guns, how well it conceals, who made it, and so on.
For a Kydex one I have heard a LOT of good stuff about the Raven Concealment Phantom, but its not leather, and with the Pancake wings its nearly the price of leather.

I carry my glock 23 (same size) in a blackhawk serpa paddle. They are pretty much the same as a fobus holster. They are about 30 bucks or so and level II.

I carry a full size M&P 45 in a snap slide from http://www.whitehatholsters.com/product-p/owbabkh.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have also carried OWB with Springfield XD9sc with a snap slide from http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/SnapS ... roductName" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Either are easy to carry with, just be sure to have a good gun belt, as opposed to IWB, when you are OWB, the gun will want to flop over even more than with IWB

Re: OWB For a Glock 19 Suggestions/Pictures
Kydex
* Raven Concealment (if you can find one in less than 6 months)
* Atomic Dog (a decent copycat of Raven, supposedly easier to obtain)
* Comp Tac - good selection, belt slide and paddle varieties, great workmanship
* Blade Tech
Leather
as you alluded to, the good custom shops are hard to come by in a timely manner - but look into some police brands
* Bianchi 82, 83, 84 - different versions of same idea, nice high-ride design and unique middle-finger release retention device (safer, IMHO, than the Blackhawk Serpa trigger-finger release button)
Any decently-made leather holster in a "pancake" style will conceal reasonably well.

The Kydex options that have been put out there are good.
For leather and short turn-around I recommend Desantis. My OWB for my Glock 30 is a Mini Slide: http://www.desantisholster.com/store/SE ... Mini-Slide
There is also a a Mini Scabbard that fits a Glock 19: http://www.desantisholster.com/store/SE ... i-Scabbard
Fairly short turn around times if they don't have it in stock. Follow the instructions on breaking it in. It fits/draws best after being worn for a day or two.
Just my $0.02

Hello. My name is Red and I used to carry a .45. Now I carry a 9mm and it's getting easier to admit every day.

Cabela's in Ft. Worth had some Galco leather paddle holster's for the 19 in their bargain cave for the mid-$40 range. DOn't know if they are still there or not.

This is good information. I'm making a list of my possibilities... pros and cons. Gotta get the right one because Tax Refund or not "She Who Must Be Obeyed" says 1 holster. Period. This might have something to do with the stink I put up about her wanting to buy a $159 diaper bag... But that was before I knew we were getting a refund (Still though, $159 for a diaper bag? gimme a break!).

If you're looking for a quick pickup have you checked Bullet Trap and their Galco selection? I like their Jak Slide owb holster. I got one for xmas from my in-laws for my M&P. Its not my EDC so I haven't worn it too much but its been a great holster the times i have carried with it.
My wife drug me around this past weekend and had me fork over 400 to "expand her work wardrobe" So I feel your pain when i get told I only get a single pair of shooting glasses out of our refund. As for the 159$ diaper bag, I hope it changes the diaper for you

Buy her a nice range bag, let her put diapers in it for a few years, clean & disinfect it, then in a few years you have a nice range bagknotquiteawake wrote:This is good information. I did this the opposite way - converting an old diaper bag to a fishing tackle bag - but in hindsight should have purchased with the long-term use in mind, not the temporary 3-year purpose.

She doesn't blow lots of money on things. Thats the thing, I think she's jealous that if somebody handed me $500 right now I could think of a dozen things to use it on (most of them related to my two hobbies: firearms or home brewing beer... never at the same time though!).
I did just end up buying a Cheap-ish Galco Concealable from an online source. $85 shipped with no Tax and 30 day return policy (i'll probably have to pay for shipping if I return). I figured it would be a safer option as most custom leather shops don't like returns and I don't want to waste their time/money.
That reminds me! I DO need a range bag. I don't have one, period. I use a shopping bag and a small backpack most times. I guess I have another item to add to the list of things I could buy with $500.Buy her a nice range bag, let her put diapers in it for a few years, clean & disinfect it, then in a few years you have a nice range bag

Uncle Sam Said we overpaid by just over $3k this year, which is a great return (we had a baby and bought a house so our tax bracket changed significantly), but we're saving up for a new car ( :( its minivan time) and need to have extra $$$ in the bank for the next time my wife is preggers (later this year I guess) because she doesn't get paid maternity leave.
I told my wife we can split $1000 of the tax return to buy whatever we want, no questions asked. She COMPLAINED that I would probably go buy guns and she wouldn't even know what to use it for. I think i'll take her $500 and take her shopping for new clothes to make sure she uses it. Then I"ll use my remaining money to buy something cool.
Do any of your wives lack hobbies? My wife needs something to do when she's not taking care of the baby or she's going to drive me nuts.

Mine likes to scrapbook and read. Scrapbooking gets expensive quick, thats the one huge downside but its time consuming so thats a plus . On the other hand we got some really nice looking photo albums of our 9 month old!knotquiteawake wrote:

I bought a Raven Concealment Phantom for my M&P 9c. I carry at 2-2:30, conceals really well when I wear nice fitting golf shirts. Pistol stays in holster but comes out smoothly when you need it to. As with all holsters a good gun belt makes a world of difference. I got the quick ship Raven Concealment Phantom holster for $80 and got it in less than 30 days. I got the loops to make in an IWB as well but haven't used them yet.

I have this one for a Glock 19: http://www.desantisholster.com/store/SE ... d-Scabbard - currently out of stock though. But it's a great holster if you can find one because it can be worn in two different positions.

I did end up finding a holster that seems to be working very well for me. See my review here:

I have a 5 Shot leather holster for my Glock 19. I enjoy it very much. I also like the Don Hume JIT slide which is very cheap. There are very many good options. I have heard X-Concealment is good for kydex.
