Anyone else saving $$ under Obamacare?

#1

Post by puma guy »

I picked up a prescription yesterday that increased by over 10% to $400.99 from December. Our healthcare insurance premium increased by 6% this year and 8% last year. I don't understand how this can happen. He said we'd be saving money! :headscratch I'll be so glad when it's fully implemented so I can feel those savings. I can hardly wait to sign up for Medicare in a couple of months.

I also loved his line that "If you like your current insurance plan, you will get to keep it".

Before the passage of the affordable care act <puke>, we had the best unsurance plan I have ever seen. One of my coworkers went through brain cancer treatments with a total out of pocket expense of $30. The company had to drop that plan after the passage of Obamacare because it's a cadillac plan. Now the best plan that we can get is a 90/10 plan with a higher premium than our previous plan. The company is working hard to keep the 90/10 plan from falling into the cadillac category. If/when that happens, we will only have an 80/20 plan with no other alternatives. So mutch for "If you like it you can keep it" :banghead:

Why is it so wrong for a company to try and attract top talent by offering top benefits?

Let's see, he said we would save $2500 a year on premiums, mine went up $2500 this year. A $5000 swing, ya that didn't work out so hot. :banghead:

If I was to keep last years insurance level, the premium would have doubled (100%). In order to keep premium at last years level, I had to accept singnificant increased deductible and higher copay.

Ha! We had to reduce our plan coverage just to keep it at a level that we can afford to keep us in our house and with food on our table. Between taxes going up and this nonsense it has undone any pay increases Chris has been able to scour up.

I've had my Medicare card for 6 months now. As long as you're still covered by your employer's insurance, Medicare is irrelevant.

Sorry 'bout that. I forgot to mention in my OP that all professionals (and other groups) who had policies under their associations (my dad's was thru veterinary (AVMA), are now illegal and prohibited. Don't forget the unions get a special deal on theirs. Be Happy, Not Grumpy! "rlol" "rlol" "rlol" "rlol" "rlol"
