Tony Bennett is an idiot!

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

Here is what Chris Rock said at this same event:

"The President of the United States is, you know, our boss. But also, you know, the president and the first lady are kind of like the mom and the dad of the country. And when your dad says something, you listen. [And] when you don't, it usually bites you in the [expletive] later on. So I'm here to support the president."

No State shall convert a liberty into a privilege, license it, and charge a fee therefor. -- Murdock v. Pennsylvania
If the State converts a right into a privilege, the citizen can ignore the license and fee and engage in the right with impunity. -- Shuttleworth v. City of Birmingham

Exactly what came to mind when I heard him. If you hadn't said it I would have.

I know Tony's old and a WWII veteran, but if he you agrees to be a mouth piece for the anti-gun faction and makes stupid statements he's open to criticism. He should have his facts straight. If he's to feeble minded or confused to make rational, factual comments his handlers should have the good sense to give him talking points to read or keep him off the mike.

I thank him for his service and he of all people should know what the Nazi's are and how they accomplished what they did. But if he supports gun control he is an idiot!

He is 87 years old for crying out loud. He is wrong but when your 87 years old you deserve the right to be wrong and ignored. I hope I get a chance to be 87 years old somewhat articulate and wrong on some political issues...

Getting worked up over what some octogenarian/celebrity has to say isn't worth the emotional investment.

Yet, some allow their chains to be yanked with surprisingly little effort...

Would you be upset if he was yelling at you to "get off his lawn"?

Of course not, you'd probably just laugh considering the source...but if you can't laugh, then at least let his opinion slide off your back.

I don't care how old he is or that he served in WW2 if he is going to use his celebrity status to advance gun control or any other element of the evil socialist agenda being pushed on us he is an idiot. He got his message out and other "useful idiots" will hear it and believe it.

All his WW2 service is for nothing if end up like Nazi Germany ourselves. Can't anyone see that?

No free passes from me!

Chris rock is an idiot too.

People using their celebrity status ( who have no idea what they are talking about) to spread propaganda that will lead to your loss of civil rights and liberties, that doesnt bother you?

Comparing someone who wants you off his lawn to the incremental damage done everytime some moron gets on TV and spouts off nonsense cosidering whats really at stake in all this is as absurd an comparison as I have heard.

No one is required to listen to celebrities.

If you do make the decision to listen to celebrities - That's a choice, not a requirement...

They can say whatever they choose - No one is required to get overwrought with they have to say.

I do know some folks get a bit of entertainment value complaining about others...

All celebs who engage in this sort of activity are idiots!

I guess what really "yanks my chain" is that their are certain celebrities who you come expect this sort of thing from. When they do it , it's still bad but expected.

When older more well respected people who you thought might have a different opinion jump on the band wagon its a little disheartening to know that people who have lived through the worst of times in history have totally forgotten what all the sacrifices of the past were for in the first place.

If they lose their sight of history and are blinded by modern progressivism, what hope does the current generation of youth have to not be stricken with the same cancerous thought processes.

I generally don't listen to celebs (unless its Chuck Norris), many do. I make an effort not to spend money on the various forms of media produced by these outspoken celebs who dont support the same thing i do.

Yes, I think its a big deal because you or I dont get the same media attention if we want our voices heard. The most attention I have got is a form letter from my reps and senators thanking me for my input. They get televised media events, internet and news coverage.

So why are you worked up, overwrought and still complaining because I think Tony Bennet (and others) are idiots? Something I said must have touched a nerve. Do you have some sort of "special" affection for him?

Freedom of speech means ALL get to have their say, idiotic or wise.

Me, I don't get even slightly bothered by what celebrities espouse.

Who cares what they have to say?

Not me.

And yes, I understand they have a louder voice (if you will) than you or I, but no one is forced to listen to them...

Just because someone can act, sing or fill in the blank, doesn't make them experts about anything else.

Yes, I recognize celebrity worshipers may think otherwise, but I just can't get worked up about how easily swayed these folks are...they're going to believe whatever they're spoon fed, and so it goes...

Abraham,

I apologize for any argumentative comments.

I see the points you are making.

I should not let things get under my skin but "we" should not forget those who work against us.
