This is a good reminder of the proper response when an anti proffers a 10-Commandments justification for their no-guns position..

I had learned this some time ago, not sure exactly when. But, it is something I recall when I think about the possibility that I may someday be forced to kill another to save my own life, or that of a family member. I also remind myself that my own life is not worth less than that of someone who would violently attack me or mine. And finally, that to have a moral compass at all, you must have some standard of good and evil, whether others like it or not.

The first time I had that argument was in 1996(?), with a NC shop owner who posted a no guns sign (which had force of law). After I gave her the above explanation (politely, of course) and told her I'd be happy to return after her sign came down, it took about 3 weeks for me to notice the sign was gone... I was happy not to have to haul my shirts to the cleaners near my office. That place was hard to get to, on the wrong side of the highway..

Education can be powerful stuff.
