Thoughts about this online store

#1

Post by uthornsfan »

So on 12/23/2012 I attempted to order a complete Upper Receiver from TopNotchTopEnds. I received an order confirmation and was told how to call or mail payment in. Since I had no way to mail I called multiple times, and emailed multiple email addresses which had auto replies setup stating they would return my email in 2-3 days.

Crickets until tonight......

Now I just receive an email from them stating I either need to pay or they are going to send me to collections. Talk about real dirt bags. I am pretty sure they have no actual recourse for sending me to collections but I just wanted to see what your thoughts were on this.

Also they now have a completely new store and when I first visited there old store there was no mention of any cancellation fees or anything but after processing my order it was in the payment email. Talk about bait and switch!

How can they send you to collections, do you possess the upper? Or are they saying they custom made this for you and they have not received payment?

Well, if they send you to "Collections", at least you will get someone to talk to.......

No goods, no collections... Unless they mean "collections dept" are the ones that are allowed to actually call you and get a phone payment, if so good u will pay them when they call.

I suggest that you ask around to see if you can find anyone who has actually bought from them and received the product. Your description of the process strikes me as similar to an Internet scam designed to get your money. Let's hope I am wrong.

Here is a street view of their location

It's a small old house. The one in picture isn't it, google is fuzzy on the actual house.

What's weird is when you google the address it just brings up sites about selling the house ..NOTHING about top notch at all.

Email them back with a detailed, step by step, description of what has happened to date, and note in it that you have CC'd the local prosecutor's office. Direct them to send all future communications to your attorney.

If you haven't paid anything yet, you're not really out any money, and this kind of business tactic needs to be stamped out before it propagates. I've just had a look at the source code for their website—which is a visual disaster by the way—and it is very unsophisticated. This tells me that they're not very professional people. It wouldn't take that much time or investment to do it right if they were a quality company. Your web presence says a lot about your business, and by extension, how you run your business.

I just looked up Top Notch Top Ends and their website is http://www.tntesales.com/, If this is the outfit you ordered from they are in Beloit, WI. The have an address under the "Contact Us" heading. You can also check your order status. I'm with TAM, send them details. I would pay with a method that allows you to cancel if the item is never received.

I'd ignore the whole thing and move on to a more reputable retailer. They can't "collect" on a debt that doesn't exist. It's not like they'd be stuck with the goods if they really existed either, in this market!

Geez, they want $1000 for an upper and $45 for PMAGs. Why would you buy from them anyway? Their prices are outrageous.

I first saw them on GunBroker selling items and I wanted a couple of things different than the auction so I looked them up.

I found a complete upper with BCG and CH for $690 just the way I wanted it so I figured it was a fair price.

They are going to try and collect the 20% canceallation fee.... :mad5

Has money changed hands? Did you sign any contract? I'm not an attorney (but I did have a semester of business law ;-) ) - if those two conditions haven't been met I don't believe the business has any recourse since there is no contract express or implied (but its been a long time since I studied the Uniform Commercial Code - the UCC). I do believe I would put them on the ignore list unless they actually had my CC number and attempted to make a charge. In that case, I would contest the charge to the CC company.

In any case, they sound like a business to avoid at any cost.

On the other hand this store.

Is amazing. Ordered 2 New Frontier lowers when they came in stock at 5pm. Already have a tracking number going to Old Cannon Armory!

Amazing!
