Beware! Handguns are NEXT!

Handguns are the main problem on New York City streets when it comes to gun violence, New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

In an interview Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation," Kelly said he supported efforts toward an assault weapon ban, but that in New York City, handguns are much more prevalent.

"Only 2 percent of the people that we have arrested for guns in the last two years have had assault weapons," Kelly said. "We don't want them on the streets, make no mistake about it, but the problem is the handgun."

He said 60 percent of murders in the city are done by handguns.

They will be sure to go after handguns next. If you hear what he says...The "Assault" weapon argument is FALSE!

But they are PROFESSIONALS, right? What about the CHL holder who held his fire at the shooter in the mall because he saw bystanders BEHIND the shooter? He held his fire because he was afraid that he might miss and shoot the bystander. So much for the argument that civilians with guns will just go "Wild, Wild West" on everyone.

What about the other 40 percent? If just one life can be and must be saved, then they must address all the means used in that other 40 percent! How many murders were committed with bare hands? They should require 'hand muzzles' for everyone entering NYC! Of course the hand muzzles would need to be well-padded, so the average citizen couldn't just beat someone to death with them...might make paying for a subway ticket or latte difficult, but we'd be saving lives.

Until those hacks get serious and find a way to prevent bare-hand violence, I don't want to hear anything more about handguns in NYC. So many more people have bare hands than guns in NYC.

They went for assault weapons first probably because they'd passed a ban before and think they might be able to do it again. Of course handguns are next. Once they get handguns it will be shotguns and bolt-action rifles. The end game is to get all guns, whatever lies they may spout in the meantime.

I agree that it's time for some "common sense" measures to prevent dangerous weapons getting into the hands of criminals. The best way to do this is:

Take the CRIMINAL off the street. It's darn near impossible to get your hands on a "military style assault weapon" or even a handgun in prison! Stop our wholesale early release programs, undo the "reforms" that William Wayne Justice imposed on our prison systems so that prisoners put in an honest day's work for their three hots and a cot, and the prison system can be cost neutral again. Recidivism in our prison systems is the problem! Will my "radical" idea stop all crimes and mass shootings? NO, but I absolutely guarantee that violent crime rates would plummet. Study after study has shown that violent crimes are overwhelmingly committed by people who have been convicted by other crimes in the past. This needs to be tried, since the president is interested in anything "even if it saves only one life".
