thanks, 33 minutes first shot till police arrived ... wonder what delay was reporting it? Maybe they felt safe.

Campus has some explaining to do on that.

Police officers wear blue shirts and have badges and shoulder emblems that say “police”. Security guards wear white shirts and do not have badges. Their shoulder emblem and their photo ID cards say “Guard” Police officers carry department-approved handguns, whereas security guards are unarmed.

We provide a full range of services to our community, including proactive patrol, investigation of offenses, crime prevention activities, escorts, and motorist assists. To accomplish our mission, we patrol in marked police patrol vehicles, police bicycles, and by foot.

The Counseling Center at each campus can assist persons who are victims of rape or sexual assault with referrals to centers established to assist in such times of crisis.

I doubt the accuracy of that.

The shooting happened outside in a courtyard between an academic building and a library, Richard Carpenter with the Lone Star College System said. Police were dispatched at 12:51 p.m. CT and were on the scene within two minutes, according to Tello. Police confirmed a handgun was involved, but could not provide more information because the incident remains under investigation.

Here we go again. Everyone with a different story. This more closely matches what I saw from a girl that was interviewed. She said everything happen within 10' of her and that there was only one guy shooting, one gun. She said the gunman ran away, not shot. Who knows what happened. Hate when different versions get published. Can't they get the story straight before they open their mouths?

My wife said that the campus police were there almost immediately.

Let's just say that the Sheriff dept. has a few tools working for them

Remember that Harris Co. Sheriff Garcia does not want his agents to be outgunned... so he was probably waiting for the live TV feed to see what kind of weapons were involved before sending in someone to help...

KHOU reports--
"A law enforcement source said the gunman shot the man he was arguing with, then accidentally shot himself in the buttocks."

'splain that.....*shaking head*

It does appear from the reports that law enforcement was on the scene quickly. All are fortunate that it was just an arguement and not an attack of some sort. LEO's cant possibly respond quickly enough to stop an entire event. Talk at the office centered around the question raised-- Would campus carry have stopped this ? IMO-- no, but it would have prevented any potential continuance.

Technically "Illegal" campus carry caused this. Had they complied with the law and not carried, all they would have done was argue or hit each other :smash:

Sheila Jackson Lee was on Anderson Cooper tonight. I'm sorry there is no way I could watch.

It was in her district.

If her new law she has just proposed had only been passed, this would have been prevented.

I'm sure she was disappointed that it wasn't a bigger tragedy.

I will correct you. Unlicensed carry caused this. Campus Carry would only be with a CHL and I will bet you a dollar to a donut this guy didn't have a CHL.
