Visited the Denton County Sheriff web site last week and this was not there.

Gun Control Statement:

As the Sheriff of Denton County, I am sworn to uphold the Constitution of the State of Texas and of the United States. With the recent events, gun control has become a much more significant and perhaps controversial topic of conversation throughout the U.S.

Gun safety begins with individuals and each person should take measures to insure that the weapons they own are used responsibly. I plan to continue to uphold the laws as they are in place at this time and will not speculate on what may or may not happen in the future.

INMHO this Isn't a very strong message / position at this time. Maybe I am reading too little into it?

So here is what I wrote to Sheriff Box the other day:

Sheriff Box,

Thanks to the wonders of modern communications (Facebook, Twitter, and TexasCHLForum), I've been made aware that you oppose President Obama's unconstitutional gun control measures. I just want to thank you for the support you are displaying to the law-abiding citizens of Collin County, Texas, and America. Thank you for your service, sir. And please keep up the good work!

ALL of the Texas major metropolitan areas are surrounded. This state is fully red...except where the population is most dense, where welfare recipients are most concentrated, and where more kids receive meals from the government than from their parents.

I guess I shouldn't be amazed: 1 in 4 children in Obama's America are being fed by welfare and your tax dollars. And eight Americans in 100 are receiving welfare benefits.

Seriously? That's where my hard-earned tax dollars go?

And the White House is spending an expected $500 million in opposition of the Second Amendment.

It is as far as I'm concerned. Much like the Travis - Williamson county line, it separates the Collectivist Nanny State from the Great State of Texas.
