Walmart to stop selling ammo?
Hearing rumors on FB and at Walmart stores that Walmart Corp has told it's managers not to order ammo until further notice. Anyone hearing anything?

In the Irving Wal Mart there is a sign on the counter that says they will only sale two boxes of the same caliber of ammo to one customer. Cabela's has a sign on the 9mm that reads a limit of ten boxes to one customer. Ray's Hardware in Dallas has a sign on the .22 shelf that says only two boxes to one customer.
I would like to know about Wal Mart.

Re: Walmart to stop selling ammo?
I haven't heard that, but I find that highly doubtful. I did talk to the Walmart cashier at the sporting goods section last week about the availability of ammo, and he mentioned that there wasn't anything good coming in for the next three weeks, but it sounded more like it was an availability issue. Walmart knows who their customers are; they aren't that stupid.

The restrictions are much more likely to be due to extremely high demand than any black helicopters.

This AND I have seen them resetting the floor and preparing for inventory.baldeagle wrote:The restrictions are much more likely to be due to extremely high demand than any black helicopters.

Re: Walmart to stop selling ammo?
Hearing a pretty consistent story from Walmart employees. Went to 3 stores last night. Being told that store managers were notified not to place ammo orders until further notice. All orders will be placed and ammo will be distributed by Corporate.
Some say this means they won't be getting ammo for a while, others said this was an attempt to better distribute ammo to stores across the country. Given the timing many are tying the move to Walmarts meeting with Biden. Time will tell.
BTW, had to walk away from 600 rounds of WWB .40 because they couldn't find he key to the ammo case.
Also discovered that Walmart does not sell ammo after 10:00pm. May have been that way a while but it was new info to me.

This is consistent with what one employee told me a week or two ago. While rather rude to me he seemed to be indicating that they would not be ordering ammo any time soon. He said something about price changes being the reason.

In general, Walmart managers do not "order" anything. With that many SKUs, seasonal items, etc. it is all controlled by systems out of their headquarters.
How many SKU's are in a Walmart? Imagine if someone had to physically input an "order" for each one every week. It would never work!

Actually for the ammo and rifles the store managers place the orders based on inventory.steveincowtown wrote:In general, Walmart managers do not "order" anything. With that many SKUs, seasonal items, etc. it is all controlled by systems out of their headquarters.

I might add that rarely do any of the employees you interface with on the floor know anything about corporate level policy. Most of what they hear is rumor or second/third hand information at best. That isn't to say it might not be valid but should be weighted properly.

Sadly this statement is not true. Most of the Walmart's in the Houston area quit selling firearms. Of the select few that still do in the outer areas, they are picked clean. While I doubt they would quit selling ammo, it wouldn't shock me if they did.

When I first read this, I thought you were saying there is a high demand for black helicopters ...baldeagle wrote:The restrictions are much more likely to be due to extremely high demand than any black helicopters.
I was thinking - yep that IS the problem.

However, when you hear the same story from multiple sources at different stores there is a greater likely hood that there is truth attached.

Been that way for at least the last year. I was at one during black friday in 2011 and saw a good price on WWB and wanted it. I was told the same thing.jmra wrote:
