How often do you check a day or week on your status? When I was waiting for mine about a year ago. I would check every couple of hours each day.

The title line of your post is oh so true. I had used my SS# enough times before submitting my CHL application that I had it memorized. I have my wife's memorized, too.

It was as a result of my checking at least 3 times a day for weeks about my CHL application that I memorized my Texas DL#. I can repeat it today, several years later. A watched pot surely did not boil any faster.

I'd also recommend remembering your CHL # in case maybe you leave your IDs home and get pulled over, you will have the number to at least give them. Has not happened to me, but its just something I keep in mind.

Just remember your DL#. They are linked in the system so officers checking your DL will know you have a CHL.

I checked both mine and my wife's at least 5+ times a day and had a moment of sheer panic when hers went to "manufacturing" and mine was still in "background check" for a day. Yea, I know our numbers by heart ;)

That's funny, I knew all my stuff before for various reasons. However, I can now type them in without searching for the keys. It's been frustrating checking four or five times a day but I did that from the couch.... My chl was mailed last Tuesday and I'm tired of walking out to the mailbox!!!

I check probably 10+ times a day. But I think they only update it once a day, and early in the morning between midnight and 3am.

I had my SSN memorized, however I did not have my DL# memorized..

Now I do "rlol" :txflag:

I'm ashamed to admit, that yes, this process is the only reason I now know my DL # by heart.
