OOps! careful, questions like that will have black suv's pulling up at your house in the new "Amerika"
They'll be hunting a long time for my AR-15. I don't own one. And I doubt my Western Auto bolt action single shot .22 would do much damage.

A long time ago I was a volunteer fireman with a man who had served as a machine gunner on a halftrack in France (obviously in WWII) He said that even with the special sight on his gun, and tracers, he was never able to lead a Stuka properly to just hit it much less bring it down. He said he did hit a lot of countryside, and houses, and barns, and even some people, in the effort, and shortly just decided it wasn't a paying proposition. He did get a medal for bringing down a plane though, it was coming straight at them strafing and he and a couple of other halftrack gunners stayed at their guns and shot it down. The Army couldn't decide who did it, so they just gave them all Bronze Stars, at least that's the way he told it.

He said he felt much safer when he got promoted to driver.

IIRC, some WWII rifles like the Japanese Arisaka had special rear sights to help soldiers who were trained to shoot down airplanes. Now, mind you, those were reciprocating engine, propeller aircraft...and from what I gather, those rifles weren't all that useful in shooting any aircraft down...so, weapons without any special sights are supposed to be used by people with no special training to hit fast-moving jet aircraft, which is what I'm going to guess he's suggesting? Ridiculous!

Yeah, it's so easy...that's why the Afghanis and Iraqis shot down so many aircraft with AK's, and why we don't have air superiority in any of our wars.

Assault Weapons can take down the Death Star if they fired at it! :thumbs2:
