this was a huge foul up on the part of those in charge, if that is the case. once an officer develops a pattern of this type of behavior it's time to pull them off the street and glue them to a desk chair.
Or remove them from law enforcement altogether.

On the video, when Farrel tells Helleson "They're acting a little weird", I speculate that is code for something like "Bring out the gimp" ala Pulp Fiction.

If there is a pattern of behavior then I hope the supervisors and review board get named personally in the lawsuit and an honest judge can be found to not let them hide behind their badges.

Sorry I can't get off my soapbox about this, but what is this little paid vacation teaching these rogue officers? I resent that my taxpayer dollars are funding two criminal cops to stay on the state payroll. :mad5

Standard procedure during investigation. I have a feeling they will not be back and will not be receiving any kind or severance pay.

Wish I had this same feeling, Keith.

I think after the investigation is complete if it is true what most of us see then they should be removed as well as charges filed.

The Ft. Worth Police Chief just decided yesterday that his officers that were arrested for DWI could be fired rather than demoted. :headscratch

Yeah, you'd think a police chief would understand the importance of due process.
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

In the four years since Halstead’s led the department, 14 Fort Worth police officers have been arrested on suspicion of DWI, including one who caused a crash that killed 27-year-old mother Sonia Baker in 2009.......

The one arrested Wed. had worked the DUI Task Force. :banghead:
I believe the Chief is finally holding his men to a "higher standard" and if I lived in Ft Worth I'd support him.

:iagree: If any officer demonstrates a pattern of abusive behavior, whether of a verbal, physical, or sexual nature, they don't need to be glued to a seat...they need to be in another line of work...period. And, if the behavior in question would have resulted in criminal charges for a non-LEO, they should also be subject to the same penalties.

So much for being innocent until proven guilty, but then the IA can find the officer guilty where a jury cleared them.

I suggest you do your homework and be careful how you quote me and then interpret it. When the Major of the Ft. Worth PD comes back with blood alcohol that is twice the legal limit I don't believe you demote him you either FIRE him or put him on leave. He doesn't keep his shield and job. :banghead:

This has nothing to do with LEO bashing. I am 210% LEO. I am retired State LEO, my sister is retired from the Smith County S.O., my brother is retired Game Warden and is now the Chief Deputy in Smith County, and my youngest son is a City LEO. BUT, his has a whole lot to do with integrity!

I never said you were LEO bashing. I merely replied to your thread. I am 210 % leo as well, but I personally believe an LE is innocent until proven guilty just like everybody else. If he is 2x the legal limit, he should be suspended w/o pay until convicted. I don't know how it is here as I have never seen anybody suspended at my work, but where I retired from in another state suspended also meant you gave up your gun and badge. No peace officer power and you cannot carry a hand gun. With a 2x he will be convicted and loose his peace officer license for 10 years, which means he cannot work as a peace officer so problem is solved. If they did not follow the law and did an illegal stop, violated his rights, ect, then the case would be tossed and the evidence should be inadmissible as in the case of anybody else.
