currently we as gun owners and 2A supporters are a disorganized bunch so if/when something triggers we will still be a disorganized bunch and not much use. So I have been looking at different groups(see below) like non-crazy militias, oathkeepers etc.... but then my paranoid part of my brain say wait what if uncle gubber is part of or watching those groups then they will know who we are sooooooooooooo. where does that leave us. So as a disorganized bunch there needs to be a disorganized plan to come together that can thwart gubbers efforts to identify and control us. Paranoid rant done. ya I know they already know who we are.

I actually read them "together" you might say - reading a few chapters of one...... and then a few chapters of the other, and so on. More or less "weaving" the narratives together in my mind.

The effect was somewhat of a time-warp experience back & forth from 1836 ...and today's political reality.

"By Force of Patriots " by Cameron Reddy - a chillingly accurate fictionalization of where we now find ourselves, and " The Blood of Heroes " by James Donovan- an excellent depiction of the reality surrounding the 1836 war for Texas independence.
A book I recommend that is part of a trilogy that i'm reading is "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" by Matthew Bracken.
I recommend that trilogy all the time because it is SO prescient.

I told him not to expect that to happen, I can't imagine why he would think we would give up without a good fight.

The purpose of my post was to show everyone here what is going on in the minds of some of the folks here in Houston. This is not isolated to the liberals in the northeast, west coast or Chicago.

I thought it would be fun to learn about kayaking, back packing, etc. and this club offered that. They communicated through Facebook so I set up a Facebook to keep up with what was going on with the group. I soon learned that many in that club were very liberal. One day, one of the ring leaders (a very wealthy attorney in Houston) put a post on Facebook about what a horrible bunch the Oath Keepers were. I had never heard of them so I looked them up on the internet. I replied back that I thought they were a good group, doing what they should be doing. That started a long Facebook conversation between the two of us. During that conversation, he told me that there would come a time where the liberals would over through the country and that the UN would invade to help with the takeover. He said that they hoped that the conservatives would lay down their arms and not fight. It was like hearing a liberal version of Survivors by Rawles with the liberals prevailing and seemed to be a far out liberal fantasy at the time. After a number of exchanges, he unfriended me and I lost the chain of communications. I wish I had saved that chain of communications in a word document as it was interesting reading.

Those folks (liberals/progressive/whatever you want to call them) are very serious about what they want to do to this country. On the plus side, he bought a Glock 9mm. He then went to the range and posted a picture of the target he shot from 10 yards. Looked like someone shot it with buckshot from 25 yards with a cylinder bore chock. I hope that they all shoot like that.

If this guy is as well connected as he says he is, what we are seeing now is just part of the liberal plan to take over the country and they (liberals) are alive and well here in Houston.
I don't doubt for a second that this is part of his and other liberal's fantasies, but that's what it is, a fantasy. They are so firmly entrenched in the belief of their own intellectual and moral superiority that they can't conceive of any effective opposition. Introducing foreigners into their plans will cement their defeat. I hope they are as stupid as the attorney idiot you're talking about, because that stupidity will save the country.
That is exactly it....a fantasy. This is just a guess, but I'm willing to bet that conservative gun buyers outnumber liberal gun buyers something like 20 to 1. So just how are liberals going to "overthrow" the government? LTUME1978, your friend's fantasy includes involving the U.N. precisely because he is fully aware that he and his fellow travelers are fairly impotent in that regard. He hopes that "the conservatives would lay down their arms and not fight" because he knows in the end that this is the only way his impotent little fantasy can possibly come to fruition. My guess is that out of ALL of his liberal friends, there can't be more than 2 or 3 others who own any kind of firearm at all, and his little ol' Glock 9mm isn't going to be worth much against a guy with an AR15............let alone 20 guys with AR15s.......and my guess is that very few people in his circle bought themselves an EBR.

While I am too old to be stomping around in the bush and will not be joining a Militia, I can offer some advice.
Get to know your like minded Neighbors, and accumulate like minded friends. Keep your group small. 4-8 people
Stay off Facebook, and these big Militia websites. They will be taken down first.Too many infiltrators & quislings.
Use everyone's skills, scrounger, medic, etc.
emails, cellphone, Internet posts can all be intercepted. Develop a code system to communicate.
Read all you can on how to conduct a gorilla operation.

Here is what scares me: the possibility that some hardcore leftist goes rogue in the administration, covertly arranging for the assassination of a couple of the Court's conservatives, and giving Obama that opportunity to appoint a couple of new justices.
World War 1 started with a political assassination.

If we can't even be organized enough to win this political battle, how can we win anything else?

The political battle will have to be won via the efforts of the NRA and other big players (with help from us via directed emails and phone calls). The politicians need to be made aware that passing any new gun laws will result in their losing their office. This is most likely not something that can be done ad-hoc. So the organization will come from above.

Annoyed Man, I never said this guy was my friend. I did not like him any more than anyone on this board. I dropped out of the club shortly after the exchange mentioned in my post as I could tell I was not welcome with my conservative, Christian position.

My concern is that the liberals may try to use the gangs to do their dirty work. One of my brother-in-laws best friend is a retired HPD SWAT sniper. He indicates that those in his circle in HPD think the gangs will take over Houston within 2-3 days of the wheels falling off and then start working their way out. He said they are not sure how far out they will get before they are stopped. Not sure if that will happen but would not be a surprising thing with our liberal leaders.

You are the one who is kidding yourself. Do you seriously think that people who laid out thousands of dollars for weapons and ammo over the past four years and counting will meekly turn those weapons in to the government? Seriously? That's the definition of fantasy.

First of all, the economy will likely collapse before the bozos can get their gun grabbing fantasies into law. Secondly, when the economy collapses, the criminals will take over the big cities where weapons are "banned". They already own parts of Detroit, New Orleans, Chicago and LA. Once government breaks down, they will solidify their holdings and expand into new territory. The government, what parts of it are still functioning, will be fighting desperately and futilely to control those areas and have no time left to deal with gun scofflaws. Furthermore, outside the big cities, the PDs are populated with like-minded Americans, many of them former military, who aren't going to be pounding on their neighbors' doors demanding they surrender their weapons. In fact, they'll probably enlist the aid of some of the more rational and knowledgeable gun owners in their fight to keep the big city virus from invading their towns.

Meanwhile, the law abiding Americans will be hunkering down, preparing for the worst and prepared to do battle with anyone who dares to threaten their safety. In that atmosphere, grabbing guns is going to be next to impossible and certainly life threatening to anyone who tries it.
The Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation where the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. James Madison
