I recommend that trilogy all the time because it is SO prescient.ajwakeboarder wrote:A book I recommend that is part of a trilogy that i'm reading is "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" by Matthew Bracken.PATHFINDER wrote:A couple of months back I read two books that I would highly recommend to others at this point in time.
I actually read them "together" you might say - reading a few chapters of one...... and then a few chapters of the other, and so on. More or less "weaving" the narratives together in my mind.
The effect was somewhat of a time-warp experience back & forth from 1836 ...and today's political reality.
"By Force of Patriots " by Cameron Reddy - a chillingly accurate fictionalization of where we now find ourselves, and " The Blood of Heroes " by James Donovan- an excellent depiction of the reality surrounding the 1836 war for Texas independence.

I told him not to expect that to happen, I can't imagine why he would think we would give up without a good fight.sjfcontrol wrote:When pig fly...He said that they hoped that the conservatives would lay down their arms and not fight.
Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.LTUME1978 wrote:I told him not to expect that to happen, I can't imagine why he would think we would give up without a good fight.sjfcontrol wrote:When pig fly...He said that they hoped that the conservatives would lay down their arms and not fight.
That is exactly it....a fantasy. This is just a guess, but I'm willing to bet that conservative gun buyers outnumber liberal gun buyers something like 20 to 1. So just how are liberals going to "overthrow" the government? LTUME1978, your friend's fantasy includes involving the U.N. precisely because he is fully aware that he and his fellow travelers are fairly impotent in that regard. He hopes that "the conservatives would lay down their arms and not fight" because he knows in the end that this is the only way his impotent little fantasy can possibly come to fruition. My guess is that out of ALL of his liberal friends, there can't be more than 2 or 3 others who own any kind of firearm at all, and his little ol' Glock 9mm isn't going to be worth much against a guy with an AR15............let alone 20 guys with AR15s.......and my guess is that very few people in his circle bought themselves an EBR.VMI77 wrote:I don't doubt for a second that this is part of his and other liberal's fantasies, but that's what it is, a fantasy. I had never heard of them so I looked them up on the internet. I replied back that I thought they were a good group, doing what they should be doing. That started a long Facebook conversation between the two of us. It was like hearing a liberal version of Survivors by Rawles with the liberals prevailing and seemed to be a far out liberal fantasy at the time. After a number of exchanges, he unfriended me and I lost the chain of communications. I wish I had saved that chain of communications in a word document as it was interesting reading.
Those folks (liberals/progressive/whatever you want to call them) are very serious about what they want to do to this country. On the plus side, he bought a Glock 9mm. He then went to the range and posted a picture of the target he shot from 10 yards. Looked like someone shot it with buckshot from 25 yards with a cylinder bore chock. I hope that they all shoot like that.
If this guy is as well connected as he says he is, what we are seeing now is just part of the liberal plan to take over the country and they (liberals) are alive and well here in Houston.
World War 1 started with a political assassination. Here is what scares me: the possibility that some hardcore leftist goes rogue in the administration, covertly arranging for the assassination of a couple of the Court's conservatives, and giving Obama that opportunity to appoint a couple of new justices.
Precisely!sjfcontrol wrote: When the gov't starts killing gun owners, the story will be that they were dangerous terrorists or lunatics with a gun, that were about to cause mayhem, and he was killed when the police went to arrest/stop him -- probably by his own hand.
The political battle will have to be won via the efforts of the NRA and other big players (with help from us via directed emails and phone calls). The politicians need to be made aware that passing any new gun laws will result in their losing their office. This is most likely not something that can be done ad-hoc. So the organization will come from above.Stupid wrote:If we can't even be organized enough to win this political battle, how can we win anything else?

You are the one who is kidding yourself. Do you seriously think that people who laid out thousands of dollars for weapons and ammo over the past four years and counting will meekly turn those weapons in to the government? Seriously? That's the definition of fantasy.Stupid wrote:If we can't even be organized enough to win this political battle, how can we win anything else?
Seriously, don't kid yourself.
