I wholeheartedly agree. That is why books, discussions, and self-defense threads can be so useful. If one concentrates when reading "The Armed Citizen" or follow-up action reports here on TexasCHLForum, the brain is building up triggers and automatic responses. I have read at least 7 or 8 concealed carry, situational awareness, or self-defense books in the last six months. I am convinced that the more scenarios one has run through the mind, the greater likelihood that an automatic reaction can be triggered. I try to visualize events in my mind and map out various options.

This is good to read. I had never considered the person trying to break down my door might be running for their life instead of attempting to take mine. I've got another scenario to be running through my head now. I feel a tiny bit more prepared to make a better decision in the future now.
