"If we need to change the law, let us at least craft a law that is very severely constrained and narrowly tailored so that we don’t invite guns out of control on each of our city’s streets,” Currie said. “I don’t want people out of control wandering the streets with guns that are out of control.
Out of control guns????

As long as the word gets out its all that matters. It's a victory for all of us, the 2A, Freedom and for the USA despite all the left wing socialist commies running things at the moment. Maybe there is hope after all.

I don't think so. The "royal rulers" of IL have shown contempt for the 2nd Amendment time and time again. Another 180 days is not going to fix that. They will craft yet another unconstitutional law and battle will start again.

I'd be willing to wager a tidy sum of money that the average Chicago resident understands none of this. There in lies part of the problem.

I would put the five pro 2A SCOTUS justices under 24 hour protection. I'd hate for one or more to accidentally fall down a staircase.

We'll see what they come up with in 180 days.

A large portion of their population in and around Chicago is tied to the 'L' Train system (almost 800K of their 2.7M residents) for their daily commute. All they have to do is ban the weapons from the train in order to subjugate a good number of their people as non-carriers. Then, make it very easy to ban weapons with 'no guns' signs, gun-free zones, etc., and we're likely to see a small portion of their population who wants to carry actually get to do so.

Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
When those fail, aim for center mass.

We'll I'll have to admit, that everytime something seems like a win, it often turns out to be something else. I hope its not just somesort of setup to set a precedence on how to allow the 2A while severely restricting it at the same time. You can never be to sure about the strategy of this administration.

And all they have to do is make it a 'May Issue' state and then direct the approving agency to not issue a license to anyone unless they are a 'buddy' or large financial contributor to an elected official's campaign fund.

Judge Posner wrote the opinion. He is one of the best judges around. Should be on the Supreme Court. I am sure he wrote a decision that could be upheld if it went to the Supremes.

Hopeful news. I wonder what SCOTUS will do with an appeal. If the Posner decision looks that well crafted, I guess it's possible SCOTUS could reject the appeal, and let the appeals court decision stand.

Assuming Obama hasn't had an opportunity to flip the court by that point...
