Sig warranty.
Well today I went to shoot smart range in dfw to get some practice before my class next month. I didnt fire my second round before my pistol malfunctioned. I have a sp2022 and my trigger does not reset after firing a round unless i manually pull the hammer mabye a 1/16 to 1/8 inch. I got the gun last year around feb or march. Have any of you sent a gun in for repair how fast is the turn around time. How does it all work. Should i go ahead and count on using a rental gun for my range test for my chl class on jan12.

Re: Sig warranty.
Were you using a new, non-sig magazine? I had the same problem with my Smith&Wesson after I started using two new magazines. They were actually produced by S&W but the gun is a discontinued model since 1994 (Model 622lr). I sent it in and they adjusted the mags and the mag release. Took about 3 weeks total.
Don't know about Sig though.

NO I just have the one factory mag. The weird thing is its kinda hard to get it to do what im describing without just loading and firing it. I can firing it on double action and when the slide returns its almost like the hammer isnt being pushed back all the way cause the trigger is loose. small pull on the hammer and it will function after that.

Re: Sig warranty.
Recent stories I've heard about Sig's CS have me very hopeful that they've finally gotten things right in Exeter. For the last couple years it seemed to be one problem after another when returning a gun to Sig for warranty work. However, as I said, recently I've heard and seen very good reports about folks' experiences. Having said that though its usually not a fast process; at least as it relates to your case. If you need a gun for your class next month I wouldn't count on it being back in time, especially with Christmas coming up. However, most instructors do have rental guns available to use so I wouldn't fret too much. If were me I'd use it as an opportunity to pick up a second handgun, you know "just in case" .
As to your problem though I seem to remember someone on Sigforum having a similar issue. My memory is hazy, but I think there was a little extra plastic on the inside of the grip that was affecting the trigger bar and keeping it from moving forward just enough to reset of the trigger. I'm assuming the hammer is cocked after you fire, and its just that the trigger isn't resetting? If thats the case I would take the grip off and look for something interfering with the trigger bar. Judging from your fix of pulling on the hammer slightly it would sound like something is causing the trigger bar to not go fully forward.
With the grip off you can see the rear portion of the trigger bar, look at the inside of the grip that aligns with this spot for anything protruding.
Failing finding anything there, another possibility is something interfering with the trigger bar inside the frame. Again, look for something here that might be interfering with the trigger bar travel.

Thanks for this info ill be checking that stuff out. and yea i already told my wife i was gonna have to get a different gun for carry. I told her that this one as it sits now would be more a liability than a asset if i was to be able to carry it right now. She wont give up her bodyguard so im looking at either a kahr cm9 or a sw revolver I like the hammerless ones a lot.SigM4 wrote:Recent stories I've heard about Sig's CS have me very hopeful that they've finally gotten things right in Exeter. Re: Sig warranty.
I have never had to send a gun back to Sig, but when my recoil spring broke they were awesome! Got to talk to a person, and the spring came days later. This was when the P238 had a "spring" problem. I got the "new" spring and have put hundreds of rounds down range without a hiccup!
Good luck!

Don't forget - if you do your shooting qualification with a revolver; you CHL will only be good for a revolver.

Re: Sig warranty.
I haven't taken a class through them yet, but my wife, and parents just took their renewal with them a couple months ago. They all had nothing but praise for the instructors and the way the class was conducted. A refreshing change from their first experience with a different instructor.
Depending on when you're taking your class I might be able to offer the loan of my SigPro to you. My wife was pregnant when she took her renewal with Crossfire, as such she still hasn't done her shooting qualification portion. She is going to go after the first of the year sometime to shoot, if it happens to coincide with the class you're taking you'd be more than welcome to borrow it. Failing that though I'm sure you won't have a hard time finding a loaner/rental to shoot with.

Re: Sig warranty.
I had to send in my Sig P238 for ejection issues (we would catch a casing in the forehead occasionally) and the turnaround was two or three weeks, or would have been if they hadn't sent the gun by accident to an Anchorage gun store . Call them and they can tell you what the current turnaround time is.
BTW, don't use a wheelgun for your shooting test - use a semi-auto so you can CC either a revolver or a semi-auto.

If you get a Kahr (and I loved mine) make sure you put a few hundred rounds through it. That is stated in their manual. I'd do it before the test for sure.
For now, I'd plan on using a rental.

Re: Sig warranty.
I appreciate the offer but it wouldnt feel right borrowing from someone i dont know. I emailed them and inquired about rentals then found out by reading the FAQ on their webpage i could rent from them. I also go a email from them explaining I could rent a glock from them. So that is what i plan to do. My class is on Jan 12 Im stoked about it I even got my buddy to sign up today at work.SigM4 wrote:I haven't taken a class through them yet, but my wife, and parents just took their renewal with them a couple months ago. Re: Sig warranty.
I took my CHL class through Crossfire and enjoyed every minute of it. It was an excellent way to spend a Saturday. Enjoy
