Renewal question from a procrastinator...

#1

Post by particle »

Okay, so I let a little too much time pass and now my CHL renewal / Birthday is quickly approaching. My Birthday is Dec 19. As I started looking at scheduling my renewal class, I'm noticing most of the classes are booked solid. My question is - at what point will I have to completely retake the CHL class (no longer available for renewal)? Is it good enough to simply have the class taken and paperwork submitted online prior to expiration to still qualify for renewal? Or does the whole process (renewed license in the mail) need to be completed prior to my birthday? And yes, I realize I won't be able to carry after the 19th if I don't have the renewed license in-hand.

You have up to 1 year after your CHL expires to renew before you have to take the full course again. Of course you can't carry during that time.

Just one note, get your class done ASAP after you apply for your renewal, or take the class and THEN renew online and send your paperwork. There is a 90 day issue that can get you if you apply, then they send you a letter asking for your paperwork. If you weren't to respond in 90 days then they could reset everything and make you take the whole class again.

So, just try to make sure you get everything done as close together as possible and you shouldn't have to worry. :thumbs2:

BTW, if you are in Aubrey, we are not too far away at Cabela's Ft Worth, and we have classes with openings before your birthday.
