L-1 Fingerprinting Name Issue
The problem that aroused was a little this one in this thread http://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=54209
My name was rearranged and ordered in correctly. First name was my middle name, middle name was my last name, and last name was my first time.
But the thing is, I had already sent my paperwork and stuff to the DPS. I noticed this when I got home and looked at the application.
I look at the bottom of the application and it says under the (FAST Live Scan Operator) "I HAVE COMPARED THE GOVERNMENT-ISSUED IDENTIFICATION PRESENTED BY THE APPLICANT AND ATTEST THAT TO MY BEST DETERMINATION; I HAVE FINGERPRINTED THE SAME PERSON" but when I went to get my fingerprints done, the L-1 Representative never asked for a form of identification or a driver’s license, he just asked for my FAST application and my check. I thought if he had done his “safety check” this problem would have never aroused and I would have just correctly rearranged my name on the application and in their system. So I called the customer service number several times to try and see if they can somehow rearrange the name but no one answered, I've also left detailed messages and they haven't called me back. It's been a week already. I thought that since I had given him my check, he would see that certainly my name on the check with the correct last name, but I honestly don't think he did.
Do I have to get my fingerprints redone?
I really hope not, it's a long trip to the L-1 place and I don't want to have to spend another $10 on something that could've been avoided had the representative done his part of checking for the correct person. I did make another appointment just in case I did, but I'd like to know pretty soon so I can cancel my appointment with them!
Thank you all in advance!

No, that's a problem with the L1 system and DPS gets the correct information with your fingerprints.
The same happened to me and I had no issues... it's been discussed here before.

So I can cancel my upcoming appointment next week?
Re: L-1 Fingerprinting Name Issue
The same thing happened to me. I noticed it on their paperwork when I went in and had the lady at the fingerprinting office change it. It is because the form that you fill out on the DPS website has it in a different order and uses the same info to autofill your data into the L-1 website. I'm surprised they haven't fixed it yet.

Re: L-1 Fingerprinting Name Issue
Yeah, that's what everyone is saying, but the thing is with my situation, I already turned in all my paperwork and the person at the office just signed the L-1 form. He didn't change the name. I didn't catch it until after I had left the fingerprinting place and have sent all the paperwork to the dps (in which they still haven't received it yet and it's been over a week )BioGuy wrote:The same thing happened to me. So would I still be okay even though he didn't change my name?

Re: L-1 Fingerprinting Name Issue
In my case, the person taking the fp's just drew a line over my name and wrote down my name correctly on the form and signed it... but that's more for your records than anything else (proof that you've done your prints). No correction was made on the computer and I didn't have a problem.
You should be fine.

I noticed it after making my appointment. Somehow, the transfer from DPS to L-1 jumbles f,m&l names. I canceled my appointment and reset it.
Armed not dangerous but potentially lethal.

Re: L-1 Fingerprinting Name Issue
That's great to hear. I'll go on ahead and cancel my 2nd appointment with them. Now my new concern is that it's been over a week and the DPS hasn't changed my status... A lot of people have been typing in their "signatures" that the DPS receives their paperwork two days after they sent it. I did send my priority mail... Did everyone send theirs express overnight or something?77346 wrote:In my case, the person taking the fp's just drew a line over my name and wrote down my name correctly on the form and signed it... but that's more for your records than anything else (proof that you've done your prints). Re: L-1 Fingerprinting Name Issue
I sent mine USPS 'next day' service (priority?). For the first two weeks DPS didn't show it as received... then things started moving quite fast. I was just checking the DPS site about once a week... took 28 days from the day I sent in the mail to the day I received my license. This was in July of this year.

That's awesome to hear. It's probably just taking them forever to update the status online, but I'm sure they received it. Austin isn't far from Houston, and I did ship priority also. I did have a delivery confirmation code but I lost it. Thanks again for all your help! What kind of rig to you use for you carry?77346 wrote:I sent mine USPS 'next day' service (priority?). You're welcome... hopefully it will be a smooth sail for ya!dafobbishon3 wrote:77346 wrote:Thanks again for all your help! What kind of rig to you use for you carry?
I have Glocks 17 & 26 and a S&W Bodyguard 380... With the change in weather I can now easily carry the G17. The BG 380 is up for sale... I love it, but I need to fund my new deer rifle. Since I have two pocket guns, one has to go!
