Magazine being released when I sit?

#1

Post by jtzako »

Hey all, new to CHL (finally got the plastic). I'm having an issue with my ccw that maybe someone has experience with. For some reason when I'm carrying the magazine button is getting pushed, which of course releases the magazine. I'm using a crossbreed supertuck w/ my Beretta PX4 Storm Compact. The problem seems to be that the magazine button pushes against the leather hard enough to release when I sit.

I used a gasket hole punch to open a relief in my Kholster Crescent. The mag release nests in the hole which prevents pressure releases and have had no problems when drawing or re-holstering causing mag release. Pistol is a Taurus PT140 with a notoriously sensitive mag release.

:iagree:

I did that years ago on hybrid IWB holsters when Glock mag release pressed leather.
but yeah, make a hole/cutout to stop that from occurring. I think I used an excto knife, not the prettiest job, but effective.

I switched to Desantis Tuck This 2 holster for my Glock 26 years ago and forgot about that issue,

If you dont have a cutter punch you can grind a bevel on a piece of tubing or use a swagelok ferrule to cut a uniform hole.

I had the same issue with my shielded holster (similar to CBST). I Bonsai as another hobby and used one of my Bonsai cutters to make a perfectly semi-circle hole for the release. Glad I figured it out prior to hitting the street with the then new setup. ;-)

Finally! An advantage to being left handed! (mag release points out, not in!)

That's one of the reasons I haven't really looked for a gun with ambidextrous mag release. :anamatedbanana

I used a spent case and a hammer to make nice little holes in holsters, from 22cal - 45. :thumbs2:
